I'm not going to read through the thread. I'll take your word for it.

Personally I'm perfectly happy with both the performance and result. We didn't sit back, we didn't park the bus, we played with greater energy and urgency than in the group games. We won. I got pretty much everything I wanted from it.

It's messy and seemingly (as predicted) still carrying on.

We've been very lucky to win today against an average team.

On most days we would have easily lost that.

Oh fair enough.

Well played Germany I guess they won't know whether to win or lose their quarter final game.

I watched most of the first half at work on the phone.

Cheating Boche swine with the Gerrard dangling leg.

Watched most of the second half on a portable.

Thank fukk that clean through effort went wide.

If Southgate bungles this like he bungled the world cup, he'll need a sex change and a witness protection relocation to south america.

Come on, we can win this fukka!

That was nice - a little nervous as we looked the less likely team for the first three-quarters of the match - but lovely at the end. So nice to not have more than a one goal lead for the last 8 minutes...

Claim it was unfair that we were playing at home.

We might as well get all the self flagellation out of the way in one thread.

Oh, suggest the Dutch referee was biased as well while you're at it.

Sorry for not replying to anything you come back with, I'll be too busy being really happy about us winning.

Edit: sorry, forgot

It was quite an even game, 2 matched teams in many ways. So yeah another day they might win. That’s what happens in knockout football.

We’ve always been fairly average to be honest. So not really sure why its lucky, we scored with the best 2 chances in the game.

Where have you been for the last 50years? I don’t remember many occasions we knocked out Germany, average or not.

I just felt they were more comfortable sitting back and being unadventurous and yet we did too. It was a 50/50 game re who scored the first goal for me - really hope we come out and attack more in the QF 1 it’s there for the taking this final!

As a side note, I've just realsied that none of the teams from 'the group of death' got past the last 16. France: out. Portugal: out. Germany: out.

I guess it really was the group of death. It certainly killed their chances...
