Probably just me, but I don't get Shaw at all.

Imho, the likes of Robertson, Tierney and even Chilwell are far superior, is he really the best England can summon up?

Did you actually watch the Euros? We had the best defence in the tournament which he was a huge part of. In addition he managed three assists and scored in our first major final for 50+ years. He’s was absolutely outstanding all tournament.

WTF is wrong with Eastern Europe and racism?

Pretty much every East European I've ever met has been sound - but in football matches their fans are racist idiots?
Do you have a light skin tone? Might be a different experience with darker skin tone I guess.

This, for me, is why I think the taking of the knee is a complete waste of time. I would never boo it, but it just seems like an empty gesture when football authorities shout about anti racism and yet continue not to deal with it.

I feel exactly the same way about the FA's Respect campaign too. It means feck all, all the time players continue to abuse officials. Until the authorities demand and insist upon the same level of respect that rugby officials get, it's just lip service once again.
It's not an empty gesture empty when it highlights such ignorance. If it was widely applauded throughout then I'd wonder what the point was.

Wonder how racist Budapest is as a city to visit?
Looks quite nice and up there with the likes of Prague as a place I might like to visit one day. Not so sure now.
This is what I find strange, Budapest (Hungary in general) is great very friendly much easier going than Prague or any of the old Soviet block countries so I find the football crowds go against the grain of normal Magyr behaviour, that said not visited since the new right wing government.

As a holiday destination it's wonderful get down to Lake Balaton for your cheap as chips white wine.

Great result, had no idea England were playing last night until I saw this thread this morning. I’d have been surprised if I’d heard the Hungarian crowd had behaved any differently to what has been described on here. How sad is that?

Yes, I actually did.

My opinion is that he's a weak link.

This!

Totally bizarre opinion, Shaw was brilliant in the Euro’s, one of the players of the tournament. Poster must have skipped the tournament.

Shaw was also very good again last night.

Good God. A 4-0 away win, undefeated over 90 minutes since I can remember, a hostile crowd making monkey noises, who UEFA have banned but FIFA won't, missiles aimed at players every time we take a corner and Luke Shaw is the problem.

**** me.

Continues to illustrate that football is a game of (differing) opinions.

Football crowds rarely represent a nation. We weren’t a bunch of anti social, frothing at the mouth louts in the 70s and 80s. Football crowds were an embarrassment to us then and may well be similar now to the average Hungarian.

I agree, we went to Budapest in December 2016. It was well below zero ... absolutely freezing ... which just added to the Christmas feel about the place. It really is a stunning city and we walked for miles and miles without realising because there was always something to look at.

It was very friendly and felt very safe. We were stunned to see people leave laptops or handbags on tables in a bar when the person went to the toilet or outside for a cigarette. We asked about it and were told that crime/theft is low! Even crossing the road ... cars just stopped and let you cross ... and not always on a crossing! Food was great ... and cheap.

But ... I am white ... and given the disgraceful incidents last night (not unexpected), I'm not sure how I would feel about travelling there if I wasn't ... which is very sad.

I assumed that Luke Shaw comment was a joke or they didn’t watch the euros

But yes, our fantastic football team should be celebrated but not many comments on here about the actual football as per. Although of course racism is much more important, it does sum up a lot of NSC with England I’m afraid.

Racism is big business in this country .

If the media hadn’t got on this today then most people would of moved on .

It will prob stay in the media and people will be outraged for a few more days yet .

By Sunday it will be onto the next thing

Like you say , football was the main thing and England were fantastic . What a side we have at the moment .

Didn't watch the game last night. Despite the Euros 'success', which I watched the Semi's and Final, I still can't get over the years of under performing, over hyped, pathetic football.

Suppose it will take me some time to adjust that England can be anything else but a disappointing watch.
