We won and that's all that matters. We're never any good against crap teams but I'm sure we'll raise our game in Turkey and get at least a point.

Was watching the Sky coverage last night, and thought I heard them say that the Turkey vs England game is only on Sky. Anyone know if the Beeb are showing it? Their coverage is shit loads better.

Last night was absolutely appalling.

before the game Mike Ingham was saying that the benchmark win would be 4-0 (based on the fact that Liechtenstein had conceded an average 4 goals a game in this group)

2-0 simply was dreadful I wasn't hoping for 8-0 but i was hoping to see a committed and passionate performance. All i saw was a load of over paid ponceing about, especially in theb last 20 minutes.

I'm sorry but I've lost patience with erikkissson 0- his teams are feckin dull to watch:angry:

This is what pees me off.

Before Eriksson people were saying "We have to stop giving away goals. When we are in a comfortable lead, we need to sit back like the Italians and defend"

We are now doing so, and still people are complaining.

We played well in the first half, got the goals early in the 2nd, and then did what was needed. A win is a win is a win.

But Brightonbird the point is this was against Lichenstein!

Im more than happy if we go to Turkey, go 2-0 up and then sit back.

Some people paid £40 to watch that turgid last half hour where there was no spark whatsoever, Storer68's point was spot on, they had let in 4 goals a game and are part-timers, it was pisspoor

I'd have had my money's worth just for Rooney's performance. Even watching on tele the reception he got when he was substituted made the hair stand up at the back of my neck.

Eriksson is the best manager we have had in my 37 years of watching England, by a country mile!!!

We won though - so not bothered. See your point though, but we played great for 45 mins

Hit the bar twice in the first half, got 2 goals in the second and people moan. Its the same thing as the FA CUp, the little teams raise their game and you get giant killers except this time we won. Anyway we always play better when it matters, the main thing is we got 3 points and that will do....quit yer moaning!

And DK is a GOD!

Did anyone see Bobby Charlton blank Becks - he shook everyone's hand apart from him! I'm sure there's a full story to follow!

Didn't he shake Beck's hand first, as he was the captain and introduced the 'celebs' to the rest of the team?

I have to say - world cup finals
looking good for European finals
8 wins on the trot
1 competetive defeat

is a little more than i expected when Sven got appointed, but maybe i set my expectations too low !

and, in agreement with BB, we look professional

Lets face it?.....Since 1966, give or take a few blips here and there, England have generally been shit, underachieving again and again, with a procession of managers reeling out the same tired old excuses for a below par performance??.... last nights performance was par for the course...A mediocre performance agains't a team of part timers. Whats the bog standard excuse when you fail to thrash a team of minows?...." There's no poor teams in the World today".....Yeah, right!....Add to that, the tossers reeking havoc overseas along the years, I have to say I really have little interest in how the national team does anymore. The England team IMO has become little more than part of the FA's "corperate product" along with the premiershite. My son still follows the national team with a passion, but then I did when I was his age!

Am I alone in the above view? Surprisingly not, judging by people I've spoken to. Even last saturday when walking back to Preston park, a friend who sits behind me expressed much the same view....

Good luck to those who spend hundreds of pounds following the national team. Not for me though, I'm affraid.

I think uv got a point there Zeitgeist.

In the past years the only really good memories Iv got of England are World Cup 90, Euro 96, Holland demolition and Scotland win and the Germany spanking

Transfer that to Albion memories and the list is endless. I think there is a little bit of a shift away from the national side these days except when the major competitions is on and everyone has to fight for their place around the telly

The record will show that we've won almost every game in the group so far, and are one game from qualifying. I don't care how we get there, the job is to get there, and we've a decent chance of doing that.

The team will raise their game against Turkey, as they did at home. We haven't disgraced ourselves in a finals since the '88 European Championships, so if they qualify they'll raise their game again.

Eriksson's teams may be 'boring', but when it matters (ie competitive matches) they don't bloody lose - I thought this was the point of professional football? I thought, considering the opposition, the crowd were pretty patient and supportive. Maybe we should be too - surely we'd all take a boring goalless draw in Turkey if offered it?
