The east is always the first as its families. I’ve suggested before that the family stand should be in the west lower, north end. That way you’ve not got as many empty seats for TV and the kids are by the players warming up.

Agreed. Need to move the away fans too. Not sure where too though. Not many clubs give away fans behind the goal for obvious reasons.

All the regular STH's where I sit in WU, no fair weather supporters.
We all felt very downbeat before kick off but we're all glad we went, plenty of mojo's boosted this afternoon.

I don't want this to be a negative thread, given a decent performance and result today.

Just an observation that there were an awful lot of empty seats all over the ground today, probably the most this season.

Had we been on a decent run or had something riding on the game, that certainly wouldn't have been the case.

So have many people just not fancied it today and lost a bit of enthusiasm? For the record, despite going, I certainly felt very meh beforehand but have somewhat got some mojo back.

And yet no audible difference in noise really. I'm not sure what to make of that. Other than it was easier to have a piss.

We have always had no more than 4-6000 hard core fans. The rest are busy people with fences to creosote now the weather has improved, and anyway there is always Chelsea on the telly.

What the hell does that mean? I going to miss the Chelsea game so I lose my hardcore status? My daughter works abroad and can only make a game if she’s back in the UK therefore she’s a plastic. Proper fans are those that support the Albion as and when they can regardless of how many matches they attend. I’ll leave it at that.

I really enjoyed that game. I didn't have to sit next to anyone. It was just like watching quietly at home.

In the old days the first weekend in May was normally cup final weekend,which marked the end of the domestic season. Here we are still with 3 games to go. I think there is actually too much football. If we look back over the last 18 months we have had a mid season World Cup (FFS!), that led to an extended end to last season. Then there was the normal intra season internationals. No wonder clubs, not just us, have suffered massively with injuries. I think people are getting matchday fatigue?

How long ago was that? I'll give you a clue, 1983, the first game was played on 21st May!!!

But that's not true... I know a couple of hardcore Albion fans who could not get out of family commitments on a Bank Holiday weekend. Their tickets didn't re-sell because the part time supporters have lost enthusiasm after our recent terrible displays...

I lost out in the ballot but not all the tickets were actually sold from the ballot in the end. You could buy a ticket for that game from the ticket office - which is what my friend and I did - second front row just behind the South goal! Great night.

Doesn't sound like you are very good at sums; there was probably 26-27,000 in the ground today; knock-off the 3,000 Villa fans and that equates to around 23,000 committed Albion fans who turned-up despite our terrible form.
