Carlton Cole ahead of Heskey in the pecking order!!!!!

Are you MAD?

Not at all.

Have you seen Cole play lately? The last two times I've seen him play he's been unplayable. Also highest scoring English forward over the past 2 months.

Would be a hard decision between Heskey and Cole.
Cole has simply been brilliant as of late; and Heskey has just been amazing end of.

as for £3.5m , must be a contender for signing of the season surely!?

... They've picked up a quality player, an England international, who will do a very tidy job for the next three years for 1/5 of the price of Darren Bent.

that really does highlight how overrated Bent is.

Is this the same Emile Heskey that was universally ridiculed as an England donkey a couple of years back?

not quite universally, some recognised that Hesky's game wasnt about scoreing goals but occupying defenders and bringing in other players. not a donkey but a SHIRE horse, grinding for the team.

I agree Carlton's done well this season and he has been scoring more than Heskey, so should be at least considered. Heskey, for me, is the better player and that, coupled with his international experience, will see him into the first team. Still think Cole should get a call-up though, he's been impressive this season.

Oh that's alright then :dunce:

Seriously though Crodo, I know you are the ultimate 'glass half-full' man but to suggest Carlton Cole is ahead of Heskey in the pecking order is utter LUNACY.

Cole is on a good run but Heskey has been playing consistently for the whole season and will go from strength to strength at Villa. He will end this season with more goals that Carlton Cole, guaranteed.

I hope you're not watching the West H'aaaaaa'm v Hull game tonight, because Cole is destroying the Hull defence single handedly.

I just think Cole on current form is playing better than Heskey. With two friendlies to play this is a good time to try a few fringe players, up front is somewhere we are a bit short and Cole gives you everything Heskey does, but with goals.

I am as it happens.

What I've seen is a big bustling centre-forward with a crap first touch who falls down every time someone breathes on him. He can't head the ball and is worse than Emile Heskey.

A one yard tap-in v a thunderous 20 yard piledriver

No contest

Very different style of player...but I agree, he may not score by the bucketload, but he brings the best out of a number of other players.

Top player, very much improving with age too.

Seconded, he is very strong, great at holding up the ball, usually takes 2 defenders just to keep track of him freeing up plenty of space for the midfield and strikers to exploit.

Is this the same Emile Heskey that was universally ridiculed as an England donkey a couple of years back? Or are there two players of the same name? ???

Yeah routinely ridiculed on here and generally by people who have seen football on the television.

I've always liked him, always thought he was unique (especially on the world stage) and would go as far to say that when he's in form, he'd be my first player on the team sheet.
