Either Rooney and Owen, or Scholes behind Owen its easy.
Anything but Heskey.
Scholes has had a shocking season y his standards. Rooney has been fairly mediocre as well - but at his age you might expect that. Time is on his side.

Heskey - on the other hand - is bang in form.

Hes played one f***ing decent game and you say hes bang in form !

Weve got to move on from players like Heskey.

Scholes has scored probably 3 times the goals of heskey this season and as you say is still under performing !
Heskey simply wont score us or create the goals we require to succeed.

So we should play one dimensional football hitting the ball up to Heskey, well France will be quacking at that.

One of the best strike partnerships in recent memory was Lineker and Beardsley and neither of them were target men.

Also Heskey is crap in the air, he gets out the way of the ball.

Oh sorry, I thought we should play two short arses and pass through the amazing French midfield. Heskey gives the option for the odd long ball and with the likes of Beckham and Gerrard who love the quicker early passes i think we need him to play.

Heskey is alright - but thats about it. I refer back to my rant of the other week - its PATHETIC that one of the richest footballing nations in the world, with four divisions and 92 professional clubs, and some of the wealthiest football clubs on the planet, cannot come up with a truly world class strike partnership. If Owen gets injured, which is highly possible, who do we have ?
Rooney is a precocious talent, but is nowhere near the finished article yet and is still very raw. Vassell ? Beattie ? Heskey ? Hardly names to strike fear into the opposition, is it. Then we're looking at the untried youngesters again. Defoe ? Alan Smith ? Not exactly awash are we.

Heskey would not make it into many International sides, that is the sad fact. He can do a job, but he's pretty limited. Its only the crippling lack of options we've had over the last few years thats meant he's chalked up 50-odd caps, or however many it is. Hopefully Rooney can emerge over the next few years to become a truly top class international, but until then, we're stuck with the likes of Emile and Vassell. And thats pretty depressing.

Bullshit, Liverpool have been steadily improving and this is because Houillier has realised that Heskey is better than all those other GIMPS he has had playing up with Owen and resorted to Emile and Liverpool have now captured 4th place due to this.

If he gave us that option then fine, but he does not hold the ball up and is not good in the air. Other than Owen we have a lack of quality strikers. It is a shame Fowler seems to have got so poor, as he would be the poacher needed. If Heskey has had such a good season then why are Liverpool looking to off load him?

Hesky is an average centre forward who has scored only a handful of goals playing for a top six side - If he really is the best option for England then we will never win Euro 2004...compare him to Van Nistleroy, Henry, Vieri, Trezequet(?!) and many others...never should be first choice.

Because they are gettig Cisse who Houllier clearly rates above Heskey (for the record he probably is better).

Basically what I am saying is that on his day, Heskey is the second best English striker we have. Comparing him to Van the Man, Henry etc is neither here nor there because they are not English.

I think he's gonna prove a few people wrong this summer if he gets chosen.

When fit, I agree with marshy, we DO have a midfield to rival most nations. Zidane is just one of those exceptional players who come along from time to time and are just head and shoulders above anything else with the world. Stick him in there with Veira and you have a central midfield partnership thats the best in the world, bar none.

Beckhams delivery and passing, Gerrards tenacity and vision, Lampards energy and finishing ability...these are players who would get into most International sides. Scholes just needs to find his form again and we've really got a midfield to envy.

EXCEPT, if what I read today is true, Eriksson is thinking of sticking Gerrard out on the left - that would be the biggest and most criminal f***ing WASTE of talent. If Gerrard doesn't play centre-midfield, then I'll just give up and support Latvia.

I hope that you are right and he has a good summer, but I doubt it. The only manager that consistently got anything out of him was O'Neil and that was because he got his confidence up.

I agree it is stupid to compare him to others, but it shows our lack of striking options that he is getting picked.

err Gerrard has been playing on the left of the midfield diamond since the second half of the home game against Macedonia in 2002. Beckham will play rightish, Scholes as the forward of the 4 and Butt as the holding player. The problem is it relies on the full backs pushing up and can leave us exposed.

Agreed Easy, Gerrard must play central.

I would have Lampard on the left, I think he can play there given the opportunity, even Scholes has played there for United from time to time.

I just think that Heskey is not offering us anything out of the ordinary, you need more than he has to win matches and tournaments.

Hes never won england a game.

Id love to know his goal scoring record for England.
Compare it to Rooney and im pretty sure i know who i would pick.

I've always rated Heskey. Liverpool may be top six, but they have been pretty poor, really - give Heskey a decent midfield and he can do a job, no question. I suspect that, if he moves somewhere ambitious and well-managed this summer he will start banging them in.

Heskey or Rooney? Its laughable to even compare them. The best English talent since Paul Gascoigne or the Premiership's answer to Brett Angell.

Only in England would people suggest playing a target man! What an utterly laughable suggestion for INTERNATIONAL football. Can you imagine Spanish fans saying "well, Raul's okay but we really need a big lad up front to pump aimless long balls at"?
