Heskey seems to have a lot of knockers on this site and throughout the modern world. I don't know why. Personally i rate Heskey and believe that he should start up front for England alongside Michael Owen this summer.

People keep saying that he gets booked loads. I just checked the Liverpool official site and he is not in the list of most bookings at the club which means he's been booked 4 or less times.

In Englands recent successes he has played huge parts. The Germany game, that goal he scored against Denmark in the world cup. I really don't see why people seem to think he's a lumbering oaf, if he is given the chance to shine he'll do it. He has strength, pace and defenders hate playing against players like that.

If that little GOBSHITE Rooney starts ahead of him we ain't got a hope against the French.

I think Heskey's ok when he's on his game and as long as he is played in the right position. Don't really understand why so much bile flows his way

Its no secret that I love heskey, on Saturday he was f***ing brilliant, if Heskey and Owen are hitting some form they should play together, Sven kinda said the same on Goals on Sunday yesterday, so fingers crossed !!

Totally agree with you Chappers, Heskey is underrated IMO. He's not going to win us any tournaments though - but then neither is Wayne Rooney who is no way near as good as some people seem to think.

It must just be a coincendence that every time I've seen him play on SKY, be it for England or Liverpool, he has been pretty much inaffective. He has the odd good game where he does something worthwhile, but more often than not just disappears into the background in games and spends more time falling over than doing anything remotely attacking. Miskicks, running into defenders... he's just far too inconsistent to be considered for as a full international.

I also agree with Chappers, Heskey also creates a hell of a lot of chances for Owen, They are my preferred front two for England.

The goal against Denmark, well I do not think it would have gone in against most keepers, more a case of Soreson having one of those days.

The Germany one, I think we were 4-1 up at the time.

I have never seen a player fall over as much as Lino.

The goal against Denmark was such a SWEET strike.

In Germany his all round game was superb.

tell me then, who else is gonna play? Do NOT say f***ing SHIT Rooney.

Heskey/Owen is the best option for England, which is why we are going to do feck all in the competition.

Tuck Scholes in behind Owen and then either include the overated yet darling of NSC, Frank Lampard in the midfield, give Joe Cole a run or play wingbacks, so removing the left sided issue.

Heskey is a confidence player, it is just seems to have none. I struggle to remember him having a good game for England and the Denmark goal was not a sweet strike, Sorenson was at fault for that and the opener.

Christ you are shitting me Chappers arent u !

We will never win anything with Heskey in the side.
Agreed on his day a real handful, but his day is once every 10 internationals.

Rooney probably has more goals than Heskey at International level already, or not far off it I wouldnt mind betting, and only has a handful of starts.

A place in the squad at best for Heskey, Beattie is better even.

I think describing Rooney as "f***ing shit" is perhaps a little harsh, but nevertheless if Heskey keeps up his form (he was outstanding on Saturday) he should definitely be the one to partner Owen. As many have already said, they play together for club so should know each other's games inside out. Rooney would also be a great guy to bring off the bench should we need it.

He's bollocks.

He never gets a run in the side. He is one of the few English midfielders that can turn a game, but I would say a combination of a bad career move to Chelsea and the fact that Sven is very settled on his midfield 4 means he will not get a run.

Talking to some West Ham fans there main criticism of him was the fact he often tries too many tricks rather than looking for the simple pass.

At the end of the day what grounds have you got for saying he is bollocks, when all most of us see of him is on highlights programmes. Next you will be saying Oatway is a decent player.

f*** SAKE. We need a big target man if Owen is playing, that's where Eriksson has been f***ing up recently. Heskey is the best English player to partner Owen, no arguments.

That strike against Denmark fizzed along the turf from 25 yards about about 200 mph so there.

Nah, I was unimpressed with Oatway in the days when he was the darling of this board and everyone was slating Paul Rogers who was an infinitely better player.

My criticism of Joe Cole stems from the fact that unless he's playing a crap team like Scotland, Northern Ireland or The Pig & Whistle, he never ever does anything. He's anonymous at Chelsea, which is why he rarely starts - and started loads of games for West Ham for a whole season beforehand - and they went down.

So we should play one dimensional football hitting the ball up to Heskey, well France will be quacking at that.

One of the best strike partnerships in recent memory was Lineker and Beardsley and neither of them were target men.

Also Heskey is crap in the air, he gets out the way of the ball.
