Used to think Oz, not any more. Possibly NZ. Argentina if it was less corrupt. Maybe Italy. But I think the UK is actually a pretty good place to live.

Happy in Blighty. Although emmigration does not seem to be the once and for all deal it was.

If I had to choose it would be Italy/France on the Med. Beach in the morning, skiing in the afternoon, that kind of thing.

Currently in the 5th week of visiting daughter & son-in-law in Adelaide & also stayed in Alice & Sydney. Last visited 13 years ago & impressions seem to me it is heading for the same problems as the UK. Prices are now high, Americanisation has attacked the media & TV. The 'hoon' [yob] problem is high & immigration is one of the main talking points. Politicians seem as they are in the UK. The overweight population sydrome of USA is plain to see! Will quite happily return to the mountains of Andalucia in a couple of weeks time, it's very 1960's but it's so cheap to live there!

Am desperate to get out of this country within the next 12 months, as another winter like the last isnt something I want to expierience.

Madeira -

I worked there and fell in love with the place and the people. The relaxed way of life, all year sunshine, beutiful women and I like the language.

Failing the Madeira dream, I would go with the Algarve...that all important decent weather throughout the year, great golf courses and still never lose contact with Uk....which is still improtant for me to have.

Good to see a couple of people saying SA. I have no regrets moving out here...yet.

It is a huge decision though because even though the UK has lots of problems, you at least have some sort of safety net if things go tits up, whereas a lot of countries do not.

What's Izmir like? My girlfriend's from there (lives here now). From what she's told me it sounds amazing!

On topic- id love to have a villa in the north of Ibiza. Although I think a lot of people in this country don't realise how lucky we are to live in England. Every country has problems and a lot of countries far worse than the problems we have here!

Don't know if I would want to emigrate. Not with Falmer just around the corner. I won't miss that for anything. Saying that I wouldn't mind a holiday home in Florida or the Carribbean though.
