Austria - efficient, a touch more laid back than Germany and some fantastic mountains.

Been there, done that! Public transport and health service (especially dentists) are real plus points. Mountains are great but winters can be really hard.

If I had to go anywhere else, it would be back to the UK or France.

That beach off the lynx/specsavers adverts where loads of women come running towards you if you stand there spraying some cheap deodorant (as long as you don't wear rubbish glasses).

Too far from the sun
Already have my bolt-hole in Spain. I don't think I'm likely to leave completely, just keep a place in Sussex and divide my time between here and there. Although it sounds the wrong way round I like the idea of winters in England and summers in Spain. The sunnier parts of Spain just don't handle winter weather (yes they do get it) very well, while I really enjoy a cold crisp winter day in England, with a visit to a pub with a roaring fire and some decent ale on tap. On the other hand, summer weather in this country is just one round of hope followed by another of disappointment.

I'm sure a good proportion of British expats anywhere can be found moaning about the UK being overrun by immigrants. Out here, the Daily Mail is very much in evidence around the kafeneion tables

We'll you've certainly picked a beautiful part of the world to live.

This summer we'll be in Georgioupolis, Paleochora and Alyrida. Only problem with Crete is the bloody Euro.

Currently find myself living in Brazil. The place is over 60 times bigger than England, so can't speak for all of it but where I am, Santa Catarina (in the South), the lifestyle is pretty impressive - white sand beaches, idyllic climate, relatively low crime rate (this issue is a HUGE factor for other parts of Brazil), stunning looking women, etc. If England qualify for the World Cup when hosted here in 2014, I'm sure many a bloke will be giving serious consideration to returning after experiencing what this place has to offer.

And for those bemoaning UK, sometimes you need to experience other countries to appreciate the good points about Blighty - relatively corrupt free politicians, low crime rates (here I've witnessed coppers fire their guns first before asking questions), a wealth of culture - most of which can be viewed free (museums/art galleries/Radio 4), and possibly the dryest and funniest sense of humour that exists on our planet.

Somalia, good all year weather, lovely beaches, beautiful warm ocean and with the amount of Somalians living round my way I reckon there cant be any left there. I can be King, Prime Minister, and manager of the international football team. ( might have to let 22 immigrants in to form a squad )
