There’s the Korean marques (Hyundai/Kia) plus European: BMW, Mercedes and the VW Group (Porsche, Seat, Skoda, VW, Audi) and Renault

Then Japanese (Nissan, Honda)

There’s even Jaguar (India) - the iPace was an incredible piece of work that they bizarrely released, and then did barely nothing to it apart from a minor facelift. There are lots of long-term owners on the various EV forums who genuinely rave about them.

I’d say you’re still in with some decent choices, even discounting China and Tesla.

That's where I'll be looking when my current ICE dies.

Mate of mine has had a Tesla on a work lease but now waiting for delivery of a BYD Seal as he didn't want the Musk association. The BYD Seal seems to have decent reviews and is a lot cheaper on the work lease scheme than the Tesla so will be interesting to see how he gets on with it.
BYD is offering some decent products and the Seal is included in that. In fact, almost all of the Chinese manufacturers have good, if a little mediocre, products. The quality – which was my initial concern – is there. Probably because it knows if it is serious about cracking the European market, it has to get it spot on. Cheap cars are one thing, but when they FEEL cheap, the demand is going to drop off.

The problem is that once you have refused to buy anything from either Elon Musk or from China. there might not be much left worth having. China is a big player in electric cars and loads of other electrical stuff, as well as the cheap goods that are rather easier to avoid.
As others have said, there is LOADS of choice outside of Tesla and Chinese brands. Assuming you didn't mean anything that has been touched or features anything from China. Then you might be a little bit screwed as pretty much everything has something from China in or on it.

You'll need a long lead!!

Sorry, bad joke.

Congrats on making the jump. I'm still trying find the right thing. I'm quite tempted by a sexy little Peugeot e208 I saw. Though it's £13k which is quite a bit more than I wanted to spend
I love my little e208. It’s a 2022 model which had various fixes updates to previous years - I wouldn’t recommend anything earlier.

Well, I sat through the whole 32 minutes, but he could have covered that in 10 without the waffle. Nothing new or controversial as far as I could see? We all know that the public charging infrastructure needs to continue to improve, and that public charging prices aren’t great. Doesn’t mean EVs aren’t the future, given how many people have adopted them in such a short period.

edit: oh, I learned I’ve been pronouncing “Chademo” wrong these last few years. 😆

I am not suggesting that it’s new or controversial but it cleared up quite a few issues for me, and I found it interesting and informative

I enjoy his presentation style, maybe you are more up to speed on EV charging issues than most.

Okay, but the “This is Insane” headline was rather click-baity. 🤔

Sure, but he’s a petrol head not an EV disciple so maybe misinformation about EV charging is insane to him
Misinformation about anything is obviously wrong. He does like hyperbole, though!
