basically the EDL is football hoolies who revel in colonialism and nationalism, and can't find a decent outpouring of their twisted emotions at football grounds anymore due to surveillance and all-seater stadia.

Paradox 1 is, they descend from immigrants to this island themselves.

Paradox 2 is, england did horrific things in many countries (india, SA etc) so colonialism is not really something to be celebrated.

Paradox 3 is, they glorify a foriegn woman (the queen), who owns 1/6th of the planet and gives nothing back.

Paradox 4 is, most are on the marching powder.


Saying that, other cultures moving into another culture and not learning the language or respecting local customs are pretty rude, and this needs to be discussed.

The EDL are finished as an organisation - they only managed to get 120 to their National Demo on Saturday (a couple of years ago they were getting 1-2k). Too many of them ripped others off (running off with T-shirt money), grassed on others to get lower sentences (at least a hundred EDL members jailed in the last year) or just realised it wasn't right-wing enough for them. The departure of Lennon, their only half-decent speaker/personality, has only hastened the EDL's demise. They won't last the year. It's the spin-off groups - the Infidels, South East Alliance, Britain First, etc - that are more going to be the problem going forward. Having said that, the only 'united' far right demo of the year is the annual St George's Day thing in Brighton, and even that is shrinking year on year. These groups need emotive events like Muslim poppy burners or the murder of Lee Rigby to give them a few months raised profile/support - that support is never sustainable as the new people it attracts soon realise these groups aren't genuine political street movements, but just a bunch of coked-up Stella-chugging hooligan thugs fighting amongst themselves. I think people (the media and the antis, in particular) really pay them far too much attention. Ignore them and they'll disappear.

Agree with virtually all of this and, like the Socialist Workers and other Trots, they seem to be remarkably proficient at self-imploding. But as regards your final point, when will Bushy and Pretty Pink Fairy go away?
