Surely the tractor drivers are no more to blame than you are yourself? Unless you're a non-driver, you have certainly been part of a traffic jam that has held up an ambulance. I have myself, numerous times. Unless you keep off the roads altogether, you can't help it.

That's silly. I have never parked up in a road in a way that blocks traffic and pretended I am stuck in a traffic jam.

There were then comments (not from you) along the lines of the eco protesters holding up ambulances, possibly deliberately. And that article shows that it was a bit of a myth.

I think the point is that both protests (tractors and JSO) are ineffective.

Because people focus on how annoying it is (to have a relative die because of a blocked ambulance, etc.) rather than how just the cause.

And if you think about it, what makes anyone expect that some tomfoolery like sitting in front of traffic, is going to make a free market tory, or a job-protecting socialist, suddenly notice the planet is under threat (given that for this to happen they would need to not have heard about the threat to the planet, or not care. Being inconvenienced won't change that will it.).

When people in California who have lost their homes because of fire don't want to talk about the cause because it is 'political' (woman on R5 the other day), you just know that the protesting isn't working.

I don't know what the answer is. But doing stuff that has 80% of the nation thinking 'wankers' isn't going to have any effect.

I don't agree with everything that Just Stop Oil does, but I can confirm that Di Bligh (one of the women who spray painted the grave) is definitely NOT a nutter. She lives in the same village as me (in fact, she has an allotment next to mine!). She is a passionate climate campaigner, and genuinely VERY fearful for the future for our kids and grandkids. Somehow we need to reduce our dependence on fossil fuels - unfortunately as a planet we seem hell bent on self-destruction. And the worse it gets, the more damage we seem to want to do....

Desocrating a grave is not rational behaviour.

Sorry, but JustStopOil are a bizarre doomsday cult that exploits misfits. Their ideas are ridiculous and they deserve every jail sentence they receive (although I think many should be sectioned).
