Lewes in the driving seat now in BSqS! I think its true that the relative success of Sussex non-league is taking fans away from the Albion. Anyone here go to Priory Lane today? Reports please. PG

Lewes by far the better side. Comfortable win.

Great little ground - packed to the rafters - nice pint and a burger and right next to the pitch...

£9.00

Glad I decided on a change for a week. I fear that although i'll always put the Albion first many will decide that this is simply better value and a proper football day out.

best in sussex in my opinion - they've done fantastically well to get that far from the days of langley sports

I like the Dripping Pan. Good variety of places to watch the game from, and all with an excellent view. Sip a pint, watch some football, see the sun go down over the Downs. Could do with a few more stewards but hey, for £10, can't complain.

For matchday atmosphere and generally civilised conditions, The Dripping Pan scores over Withdean any time. My allegiance remains to the Albion but I'm increasingly less inclined to travel somewhere inconvenient for an away fixture if there's a decent home game at Lewes.

9 points the gap at the top of the table now.

Wouldn't it be great if they both went up :)

Yes, three Sussex teams in the BSP would be amazing, I can't think of a time when football has been so strong across the county.

If Lewes go up, I am guessing that you will not be able to have a pint on the terrace during the game.

Not sure you're sposed to be able to anyway. For the FA Cup replay against Grays earlier in the year, the blinds had to be pulled down over the bar windows, yet they were still giving out plastic cups! At that level it would be stupid to stop it though, no harm done.

The rules for FA cup games are different.

You are right UB. Promotion will take away a lot of the Dripping Pan's charm.

Could potentially make inroads into the Albions support. Lewes gates seem to have levelled off around the 800 mark in the Conference South, but if they go into the Conference proper that could go up. Not sure the Albion have ever had a Conference side that close to them in location.

the nearest conference side we've ever had are crawley - if lewes remains cheap, playing only two levels below us with decent facilities, then there could be a fair few people who decide to go there instead

I think there has already been an effect. The biggest worry is if Worthing have a big cash input and move up a couple of divisions as well.
I think EBoro have done very well in attracting new supporters from the incomers into Eastbourne.
Lets face it non-league football is good for entertainment and facilities. I shall be watching it when the Albion are next in Yeovil.

There will have to be segregation as well which is a shame. I have witnessed some good banter with oppo fans - everyone knows its only friendly joshing when you are all stood in the same end.

IF Lewes make the Conference, then there is a case for requesting home games don't clash with the Albion, in the same way other local teams in close vicinity do. This would mitigate the loss of support, and of course allow some of us to follow both at home.

i always thought that was only down to policing - for example, the two sheffield sides dont play at home together, as the drain on south yorkshire police, particularly with rotherham and doncaster as well, would be too much

cant see that being a problem with us - especially as there are hardly any police at withdean, and wouldnt see lewes needing too many, if any

You get one choice who you'd like to avoid before the fixtures are drawn up.

I would be well up for Friday night football at the Dripping Pan.

Evening beers and football at the same time - a good way to kick-off the weekend.

I am sure that is part of it, but any agreed clash can be factored into the fixtures computer. For example, Brighton and Pompey are normally not at home together, even though the police forces are different.
