The notion of 'abiding by local laws' certainly did not seem to apply to British people working in Saudi Arabia when I was there, judging by their 'lifestyles'. Lets try and be a little bit realistic eh? Is this 'abiding by local laws' only applicable to foreigners in the UK?

Firstly you do not ignore it, make excuses even though it is only a minority at the moment, shout down those that are worried and put it down to racism and xenophobia, hopefully hear more voices/actions from those moderates of the religion.........just for starters imo.

The problem is though that whilst there are millions of moderate Muslims, peacefully carrying out their lives and speaking and acting moderately, they are NOT news.

What is news are the small number, so small that in most cases they are listed by name in the media, who speak and behave in a radical manner.

That's why it is important to encourage people to look behind the headlines and see what is real and not just sensationalism. It also helps explain why those who have the greatest day to day contact with Muslims and those living in areas with the highest Muslim populations are the most likely to be tolerant in regards to Islam.

Of course Islamist propaganda that instills anti-western sentiment in young children and radicalises youngsters should be tackled - only a fool would disagree.

In exactly the same way that those who encourage youngsters to join the gang culture or drugs should be tackled.

Neither of the above however applies to the vast majority of the population.

Fair enough, but for some to just dismiss, or in other cases just be classed as "arsewittery", when Britain’s most senior Muslim police chief obviously is closer involved/contact, then i would say that it is "not just sensationalism".
