People should be allowed to wear what they please.

Further marginalising muslims is not going to help in any way at all.

that's exactly the point,they're not

do you really think muslim women dress like that out of choice?

Considering this religion is still in the minority, it seems to cause a hell of a lot of problems wherever it goes. It's not because of us, it's because the religion requires too much change and comes in conflict with our own values, the Burqa being just one example. That's not how it works here and we shouldn't have to accept it. I will never accept it.

Personally, I think you've got to be slightly simple minded if you allow a religion to dictate what you eat or wear. Jewish and I can't eat bacon ? Bugger that. Female and Muslim and I have to cover myself head to toe ? Bugger that. Catholic and I can't use a condom ? Bugger that.

I'm going to start a new religion where all women have to expose their breasts at all times. You in ?

My problem with it is its mealy mouthed, indirect and populist without having the balls to say, we were maybe wrong on the multi culti fanfares.

Lots of people have turned to this dress code as a statement that they are not accepting of the host country's culture. To say women are oppressed into this is not quite true either, plenty of women have gone down this route unilaterally.

Liberal western governments who are now back-pedalling are dressing up policies behind language over women's rights and security. It's the same lily livered style that created the multi culti environment and lack of integration in the first place.

If you want to hold your hands up and say we went to far with the multi culti bit, then fair enough. But hiding behind nonsense about going into banks or implying some nasty patriarch is making them do this, is just another side of the coin that got us to this point in the first place.

I remember Mingus Campbell on Question Time shortly after 9/11, in response to some vitriol from a white woman convert wearing a hijab.

He started by saying 'firstly may I commend you on you decision to convert' WTF !! and not very long ago on Question Time Ian Blair when challenged on crime rate and immigration said 'at the weekend he looks out of his window and see's his daughter going out with other girls of different ethnicities' was somehow an example of the success of immigration and he is the Met Police Commissionaire FFS and that is all he could deduce from London's multiculturalism his middle class daughter going shopping with other middle class girls.

These are the political classes that really havent a clue.

If the Dutch decide to partially ban the Islamic veil then why not ? Too much interference going on everywhere from other countries and organisations i.e. US , EU and some on NSC etc trying to tell a DEMOCRATICALLY elected country how they should run their own lands . If you start to question their decissions you question democracy !!!

So if I'm queueing in the local Asda and two wimmin in tents with just slits to see out of are in front of me ---I just turn a blind eye then.
We live in 2015 not 1515 Bruce

If they want to dress like that then yes. You must be a very small minded individual to take real offence to how someone else chooses to dress. If you're fishing then congratulations, otherwise, you're an idiot.

Would love to see what all these same posters would be saying if this law was targeting Jews rather than Muslims.

It just occurred to me that the exact same suggestion could be made about Jews with their funny wigs, black garb and ringlets. That argument usually ends with some windows getting smashed ans special trains to holiday camps in the east.

You say "It's not because of us" and then go on to say "that's not how it works here" and "we shouldn't have to accept it"... Do you not see how contradictory that is? It is as much because of "us" as it is because of "them". You're post sums it up perfectly. Its a clash of values and traditions with some people on both sides adamant they are on the right and refuse to live and let live. And "we" (or you) are just as guilty of that as "they" are.
