At the foot of the downs
Good Old Sussex By the Sea
Their cricket is a pleasure to see
They will give you a show
For they don’t play slow
And useful men are they
So when you go to Sussex
Six Martlets men to see
They will delight you all
With the bat and the ball
In the County Ground by the Sea.

I see the Gilligan Stand is to be no more (probably).

One of my first jobs was Ashdown Court (behind the stand) and the stand itself. Think it was summer of '72?

Have fond memories of popping into the pub for beers during the hot summer and following Sussex to Lords for a cricket final. *The Gillette Cup I think. Trying to get into the Playboy Club near there after the game.

*Anybody know for sure?

I think we won the Gilette Cup in 1978. Have you lost six years somewhere?

Whilst I'm dismayed at yet another batting collapse by our lads (Denly either gets a ton or a duck, and in this match, he has gone for 2 ducks!) the repercussions for your glorious mob is quite something.

On one hand we fcuk up our outside title hopes, on the other, we open the relegation trap door right at your feet...........then again, having checked the in running Championship table, we are well and truely down there if we lose.

Bloody hell, lets hope for both our sakes we get the 120 odd or so we need after lunch - As long as Van the Man stays there, we could well do....

To all intents and purposes, it looks like we're going to need Somerset to avoid defeat. I think we absolutely need maximum batting points now, seeing as it looks like Yorkshire are going to get them:

Lancashire: 107 & 288
Kent: 233 & 38-5
Lunch

Yorkshire: 236-2
Somerset: 380
Lunch

Durham: 380
Sussex: 41-0
Lunch

Can't believe Kent are going to lose that one. Sake.

The relegation trapdoor may also be at your feet, sir. If both Yorkshire and Sussex draw, with Lancashire beating Kent, then a high scoring draw between Yorkshire and Sussex could see Kent slip into the second division if you were to lose to Somerset.
