The truth is the recruitment team went absolutely crazy signing attacking midfielders/10s (so many of them lightweight) that we’ve had to punt Fac out and maybe Julio next. And they completely forgot about quick, strong defenders. Bit incompetent really
Agreed.
A totally unbalanced approach. We brought in quantity and not a lot of quality. Minteh is appalling. A joke. Weiffer not good enough. Ayari instead of Fac....are you having a laugh. O'Riley firing blanks. Gruda looks woeful. Ferdi overrated and can't defend. Only Rutter has shown promise.

The most depressing thing for me today for me is the battering Lewis Dunk has been getting. He has been consistantly our best player for 15 years. Rise above it Lewis

Georginio has certainly been a rudder for the Albion. Rutter the rudder.

Dunk hasn’t become a bad player overnight. Under RDZ he was playing some of the best football of his career, hence why he was called back into the England squad. He hasn’t lost pace, he never had pace. He still has time left as a traditional back four centre half, but he will always look poor chasing attackers from the half way line and he would have done ten years ago. I’m sure he’s as frustrated as anyone.

Dunk hasn't seemed the same player since around this time last year. Clearly something going on behind the scenes. Always looks pretty pissed off these days and seems disconnected from the team. (Maybe it's just me, but that's the perception I get)

Seems to coincide with his England call up.

It pains me to say but we need to bring Igor back, the backline is better balanced
Or we play with three at the back so Dunky is less exposed and can play his way back to fitness and form (, for one last season).
Without Veltman, and with a very sub par Dunk, AND the way we play....we are so exposed.

I think Weiffer was signed to provide a defensive presence and protect the back four but that is not working out so we do not have a naturally defensive number 6 in our squad who can protect the defence

That's a hell of a sweeping statement writing off Minteh, Wieffer (who should have played yesterday), O"Riley, Gruda and Ferdi. I mean, come on!

Lewis Dunk will NEVER become a go-to scapegoat on whom to vent my post-defeat frustration.

He has made several big errors in each of the past 10 seasons or so, but has generally been very good and often outstanding for us - during by far the best period in our club's 124 year history.

There is a big clue in the word "supporter" for anyone unsure about how to react to him, and the rest of our players, during this current sticky patch.

I'm not going to add to your pain today, even though I have acknowledged on here before that Dunk has done poorly against Fulham in recent years. But we had a similar situation with Tim Ream - served the club well for decades, but getting slower and more vulnerable, especially in the Prem. However, once Palhiñha arrived in midfield and gave more defensive cover, Ream flourished - could sit deeper, make good passes, more time to intervene, less chance of being surprised and turned. Ream ended up staying a couple more seasons as a result and left as a hero, rather than a has-been.

So with Trump getting $15M from ABC after they called him a rapist does the club just turn a blind eye over the constant chanting yesterday or is it because its not a criminal matter, like Wolves twice singing the Chelsea Rent Boy song

He doesn't feel like "Mr. Dependable" at the back and has recently seemed quite unreliable. In my opinion, Van Hecke is Dunk's successor; he and Igor have built a good partnership. However, in all honesty, it feels like our defence as a whole has fallen off a cliff and we are conceding a concerning number of goals, no matter who's in our backline. Fabian Hurzeler has a tough task on his hands.
Last 4 games. We were good before that. There's a reason
