Dunk - Refusing to play?

The more I think about Dunk 'refusing to play', the more it sickens me after we stuck by him in his dark days.

He did nothing wrong, nothing at all. The club didn't do him any favours, the club looked after their investment.

Well he's either refused, or its a classic Bridcutt-style "my heads not right boss".

Where is the proof of this? CH chose not to play him, but when called to go on he was ready to go, until Stephens pulled up and we had to use JFC.

5m? Dunk would be worth more than that if promoted, if he stays and helps us get promoted then how much would that be worth to the club. Fulham could just as easily be on the flip side.. play off contenders this season and we would be sick as a dog if Dunk helped them secure the points and we were to miss out.

Without going over the whole thread, as I understand it the O.P. has now either retracted what he said or at least has doubts about it. One other poster claimed Dunk refused to play at Fulham but as far as I remember nobody else has backed this up.

Pretty shoddy for a well-paid professional to behave either way.

If indeed he has, right? Perhaps it's Hughton's decision as he knows that Uwe is comfortably capable enough to fill in, whilst also taking Dunk out of the public eye for a few days may be good to give him a break.

In terms of £5m, I'd take it if it were coming in from a Premier League side. Fulham? They're a direct competitor, so I'd want at least an extra £2m.

The only players that are 'loyal servants' nowadays are the duffers that nobody else wants. Think the last one we had was Kerry Mayo. Players nowadays need to move onwards and upwards to claim their place on the gravy train and secure their family's future. And who can blame them. They're a very long time retired.

Let me introduce you to Uwe Hunnemeier (we could probably do with another CB if Dunk is sold) but, unlike last year, we seem prepared for eventualities like our best players being sold.

Look, you don't start chopping and changing your centrebacks without there being a damn good reason. A settled defence is crucial, and Hughton is a naturally cautious manager. Hunemeier had barely got his duty frees packed away before being pitched straight into the side, so I think we can safely summise that "something was up".

If Dunk is right now driving around Sussex in his Range Rover then its pretty clear why he was dropped on Saturday and why he missed last Tuesday, no ?

Yes, maybe CH thought Dunk's performance might drop. That's not the same as Dunk saying 'oh, my head's not in the right place guv'.

We don't know for sure that he's not traveled with the team, but even if he hasn't, maybe he's driving around Sussex because the club have told him he's being sold. It doesn't mean he's refusing to play, or that he's being a Bridcutt.

They have strikers we'd love to have, their midfield seemed ok, and they're strengthening defence with huge bids for players like Dunk, and we could have easily lost. A bit earlier to write them off IMO.
