Is he? They have published plenty of speculation but don't seem to have broken much news about transfers that have actually happened, not before I've read about it on here anyway.

He cost the club nothing and the club will get £5m+, both the club and the player were protecting their investment by not playing him.

How exactly did the club 'stand by him', he was found not guilty and they had no intention of sacking him and losing any potential money upstream, turns out the correct financial decision not motivated by sentiment.

He was under contract and was falsely accused of a crime, what would you expect an employer to do

The alternative would be to sack him, he would then become free, so I guess it was driven by contractual law underpinned by the self interest of the club of potential future transfer fee's.

The club didn't know what the verdict would be before hand, If I remember correctly his form had dropped around that time too,but the club did every thing they could for boy.
Good god how did the club know how things would pan out a few years later to his valuation .

They announced the Goldson transfer before anyone else. They've also been the first with some of the other transfer bids (e.g. Dunk, Stephens, Marshall).
