Article says he'll be available end Jan. There is a PL gap of 3 weeks due to FAC and internationals so 12th Feb at Watford is a target return. That would mean he misses 8 more PL games, assuming Spurs is rearranged for Jan.

Still think we need to recall Clarke, Østigard or Van Hecke.

Why? These players, who have never played above Championship level, can’t be recalled until the window opens on Jan 1st. By this time we should have 5 fit central defenders in the squad, 4 of whom have been regulars in Premier League matchday squads over the last few seasons. Assuming Dunk is back on 12th Feb, that’s a mere 3 league games before the recalled loanee becomes even more surplus to requirements than he was.

The above is obviously assuming that Webster’s injury isn’t too bad and we don’t have any further!

You're not having JP van Hecke back! He's under house-arrest in Blackburn.
Khadra wasn't quite so effective today, showing a tendency to run up blind alleys, but JP was brilliant.
He's a natural leader too. I reckon he'll be worth eight-to-ten million, this time next year.
I realise there's a big gap between the PL and the Championship, but you can see his class.
Great headed goal too.

You haven’t worked out how this works. He’s now yours, Blackburn through and through, and we should sell him to you for whatever you deem the right amount. The Leeds fans can get you up to speed.

These players, who are all playing right at the top of the Championship, in the top six, all three of whom could be PL players next year?

I wonder, hypothetically, if we are allowed to recall on January 1st. and then return them on loan on the 31st? (not that I think we would or should).

.

You think they’re going to slot straight in and be better than the 5 players who have spent the last 5 months playing and training together?

I never suggested that at all. Just pointing out that they aren't the meer Championship players that you seem to dismiss them as. They are very experienced top level Championship players - who I imagine would manage to start playing in the PL in the same way that Webster, Duffy and Burn did, starting cold in their first games in the PL (OK, Duffy had some time ago played a handfull of games with Everton).
Incidentally, all three of them have more experience at a higher level than Roberts.

So, should we, or will we, recall them? I don't think so. Could we? Depends on the terms of their loan contracts. Would they be likely to do a decent job if called upon? Yes.

Webster was with the club 4 weeks before he got given a start over Duffy. It would be madness to recall these players, unproven at this level, for the sake of 3 games without Dunk, unless further injuries happen.

If only it was that simple. The whole contract and transfer business these days is like some complex, arcane game. (Herman Hesse - step forward!). And I think the agents make up the rules.
Would your club accept 2.5 million plus add-ons for him?
We'll only have that kind of money if Brereton goes, but - then - we could be talking about one big deal!

I doubt we'll be buying/recalling/loaning anyone to cover the loss of Dunk. Realistically while he's out its going to be a combo of Duffy, Webster, Veltman at centre back with Burn and Roberts as back up, which until Feb will be fine. Any incoming playing would need to be better than those initial 3 to make it worth our while and that player would cost a decent amount in fee and/or wages. They also might find themselves surplus to requirements once Dunk returns. Recalling a loan player also seems a bit pointless as they'd need a month to bed in with our players.

I think we'll just find ourselves carrying on as normal but with Biss/Moder/Lallana etc being a bit more cautious of leaving the defence exposed.

He played regular Eredivisie football last year and is doing well in the Championship this year. I'd say the fee would be a bit north of £2.5m.. For comparison we paid £20m for 23 year old Adam Webster 3 years ago who had played no higher than the Championship. Van Hecke isnt worth that right now but give it another season and he could be. Bloom will be looking down the line at potential future value or him being a Prem player with us rather than letting him go now. This conversation is exactly how early chat with Leeds fans went for Ben White and he was sold for £50m.

It's okay. We have a defender farm in Mid-Sussex. We can breed, train, and spew another one out.

The striker farm has been closed for ongoing repairs.

This is really promising to read. Hopefully he'll maintain or even improve on his performances. We all win then.
