Webster was with the club 4 weeks before he got given a start over Duffy. It would be madness to recall these players, unproven at this level, for the sake of 3 games without Dunk, unless further injuries happen.
As opposed to Duffy, who was dumped dtraight in (as were Gross, Propper and Ryan for that matter). Again, I reiterate that I never suggested we should bring these players back in January (although that could change with a couple more longish term injuries - which is a completely different conversation), just that these players aren't the no-hopers that you seem to think - and if circumstances changed so that we had to recall one of them it would not be a matter for bed-wetting.
They're good players - and they're ours, which in my book is a good thing.

Duffy was straight in as we were down to the bare bones in defence, and particularly centre back, by the time we finally got his signing over the line. Goldson had been injured from the beginning of the season as had Uwe H. Bruno had been playing centre back (impressively well) but Rosenior had been taken out by Kermocunt at Reading the previous game so he was need back in his natural position. We literally had 4 fit defenders including Duffy when he was thrown straight into that game at Newcastle!

Edit: I don’t think the players we have on loan are not hopers, and I never implied that.

That is the point. When we are down to the bare bones we have to take a chance on someone (as was the case with Gross and Propper). And we need have no qualms about doing so.

I don’t disagree. However, my original response was to another poster saying we needed to recall a defender on 1st Jan, by which time the only unfit centre backs should hopefully be Dunk. Having 5 fit centre backs and the 6th returning 3-4 weeks later is certainly not bare bones, even if you do play 3 at the back.

Yes, I think we are probably arguing about somethiing we both agree with ................................

I do believe, though, that our loanees would do a decent job if called upon. Out of interest, which of our roving young CBs would you recall, if we had to - Clarke, Ostigard, van Hecke or Dendoncker?
Personally, I think it might be van Hecke - something of a late-comer to the party, but coming up fast on the rails (on the other hand, he may be a useful bargaining chip in the Brereton-Diaz negotiations - if indeed such negotiations actually exist!).

The other thing about him is that he's a real crowd-pleaser. He really busts a gut, and we have seen a couple of end-to-end runs from him.
He's a favourite at Ewood already.

I've never seen either Brereton-Diaz or van Hecke play live, so I haven't a clue about their abilities.

Out of interest as a Rovers fan would you be happy with a straight swap?
If not what do you feel would be a sensible fee to balance the deal.

Looks like we’re recalling Walton in January having fattened him up (metaphorically) for sale with a number of EFL loans over the last few years. He’d be amazing value I think. Would you have him back?

In the press conference, GP said Webster won't be available on Wed, but outside chance for Sat

PS Tuesdays are a day off from the Webster daily updates role

Did he say that? Good news. Naylor’s write up about the injuries said that Lallana might make the bench on Wednesday but Webster not back until after the Boxing Day game.

He's at least right on the Lallana update. The press conference is available on the club's website.
