[Albion] Duffy's Tweet

Thunder Bolt

Silly old bat
I think that's a bit harsh, as Webster and Burn have equally made mistakes with their feet.
The difference is that both Webster and Burn can play out much more comfortably than Duffers.

This was less of a problem when he had Bruno to his right.

Fair comment.

I'm sure Duffy will be off as his place in the Squad will be taken by White.
Works all ways. We get a transfer fee of say £7m. (Bought for £3m). The money that's saved on his wages (£45k per week - complete guess) is used to fund Whites new contract.
We get a new player in who is probably more adept at the Potter way.
Big Shane gets regular first team football at somewhere like Celtic/ Sheffield United for around the same wage.
Our net win this year is Shane's transfer fee. Nice work.

Plenty of sides queuing for one of the best centre backs in the Premier League (at defending). Sides wanting a ball playing centre back will avoid him though, I’m thinking Leeds & Arsenal here.

But teams like Palace, Newcastle, Burnley promoted teams (other than Leeds), West Ham, Sheff Utd, Watford etc will hopefully create a nice little bidding war that will see him go for £10m+.

This board will implode when Dunk follows him out the door (to Chelsea in the case of Lewis), but I think we’ve got enough cover with Webster, Burn, White, Clarke and some U23s.

Selling Duffy would be a mistake, but I can understand why he'd choose to leave. He's a much better player than to be sat around not playing. Burn's a poor quality footballer but he has the advantage of being left footed. On the assumption that Bernardo will leave, we're going to need a left back to come in with Burn as second choice and probably Solly March hanging around as well because, well, who'd take him?

Duffy's been a fantastic player for us, there are only good memories.

Why would it be a mistake? I love Duffy, been one of my favourite players, particularly during our promotion season but its really the perfect time to sell him, he deserves game time and he could potentially find himself as a 4th choice CB with us and waste a season on the bench, right now he certainly still has value for any lower prem/top championship team.

He deserves game time. Fantastic commitment and will always be a fan favourite, but this seems like the right time for him to move on, all things considered and probably for all parties.

2+2=47 Got to love NSC (of course there is a good chance he’ll go but nothing suggestive in that tweet whatsoever!)

Come on there really is! ‘It’s been a pleasure’ is something you say when you’re parting ways, not when you’re going to be back in pre-season training with your team mates next week.

All adds up with White probably coming into squad as well.

Not necessarily. It's probably somewhat of an Americanism, but there is a sense that when a season comes to a conclusion then the team disbands - and it's a fair point as there are always so many comings and goings. You'd also say "It's been a pleasure" to your mates at the end of a night at the pub, even though you are meeting them again the next night/week.

That said, as an Irish fan I would probably like to see him move on if he wasn't going to play here, very reluctantly.

He'd be crazy to stay here. He's far too good to be a reserve centre back for us. Has proved himself as a very decent PL defender and I'd be surprised if a newly promoted team or a team like Palace/Burnley/Newcastle didn't buy him.

It's been reported that Burnley have been watching him.
