Dunky put his thumb up at one stage in the match last night.

Must be leaving then!

Possible pecking order of centre halves next season should he stay:

1. Dunk
2. White
3. Burn
4. Webster
5. Clarke
6. Duffy

He's off. He's too good to play only a handful of games.

Well, without exception he's been picked at CENTRE BACK ahead of Burn, when Dunk or Webster has been unavailable, so not sure why he'd suddenly be behind Burn now. You've no idea where White will be in the pecking order, and Clarke might well not be here. Other than that, spot on.

I think/hope we will be going with a back 3 as our default formation next year. Dunk Webster & White with Burn and possibly Clarke as back up. It's hard to see how Duffy fits in with a Potter team of the future, in which case, it is probably best for all parties if we part ways. Duffy has been a fantastic defender for us, but it we want to move forward with a more expansive game, he just isn't what we need.

I will be sorry to see him go but he is too good to be a back up or late super defensive sub. Seems to have conducted himself very well in what must have been an incredibly frustrating season for a player who was our player of the season.

Wherever you go big man I wish you luck and thanks for all you’ve done whilst here. I wish him well even if he ends up at Leeds or even Palace

I'd echo all this, except for the last two words!! A superb servant to the team, and one half of the best defensive pairing I've seen in 25 years of watching the Albion.

And i'll echo all of this. Does seem a bit mad we're getting rid of such a committed (and talented) player but I get his cap doesn't quite fit under Potter.
Would just add a few on here are underestimating him- no way will he join a Championship club. Can see he going top ten or even Italy.

Duffy has probably heard that we are trying to sign Ben White from Leeds... He knows he will have to move to obtain first team football next season if we manage to pull off this coup.

I take that last sentence as code for him probably moving on. He's been a great servant but he's obviously not going to be a first choice under the Potter style of play. With potentially White * and Clarke in the squad next season, it makes sense for both Shane and the club for him to move on at this stage of his career.

* Assuming Leeds allow us to have our contracted player back of course. If we ask nicely.....

I think he would fit in in a flash at West Ham, given how they now play, Sheffield United, Everton or Burnley.

‘It’s been a pleasure lads’

Does imply he might be leaving. I’m not one to over analyse stuff but I think that phrase is one you’d only tend to use if it’s likely to be the end of something. Honestly, he is a limited player I don’t deny that but he’s been an absolute machine for us, gave us everything he’s got. I think he’s at a stage of his career where he needs to be playing every week so I think it’s the right time for him to move.

Absolute rock for us last season.

I don't think Potter will be ushering him out, but won't stand in his way either.

Unlike the Leeds fans when they are finally confronted by White in stripes.

I will be giving the big man a huge cheer upon his return to the AMEX, even if he's dressed like one of the Tracey brothers.

He's great with his head but makes mistakes with his feet.

I think that's a bit harsh, as Webster and Burn have equally made mistakes with their feet.
The difference is that both Webster and Burn can play out much more comfortably than Duffers.

This was less of a problem when he had Bruno to his right.
