You’ve pontificated about what players are on, preached the bleeding obvious and then stated no-one knows and it’s all speculation. Not sure why you bother tbh.

I wasn't the only one - and I note you chose to ignore the substantive part of the argument

There is no way our club captain, who also signed a new deal when it was obvious was not in GPs plans is still earning the same - or less than Duffy

Duffy signed a five year contract in 2018 for £45K a week.

Lallana is the highest paid player at Brighton - because he was a free transfer - he's on about £90K a week. After that the next players are on £50K a week - Jahanbakhsh, Webster and Gross. Duffy is in the next tier with Wellbeck, Dunk, Propper and Maupay. White has a very small contract - something like £300K a year until 2023.

Dunk is on the same wages as Lallana, whatever that is.

In addition to the previous discussion of qualification rules, players born in Northern Ireland can play for either team without any parental qualification requirements, as they are innately allowed citizenship of both since the 1998 Belfast Agreement. This has been agreed by FIFA, although the IFA (Northern Irish FA) are not particularly fans of this decision.

And was always the case - indeed many Irish players played for both international sides over several decades - the great Johnny Carey played 9 times for the North and 27 times for the Republic. From the great Irish team of the late 1940s - Billy Walsh, Davy Walsh, Tommy Aherne, Tommy Eglington, Con Martin and Peter Farrell (all born in the South) and all played for both the North and the Republic (actually for Ireland as the Republic of Ireland didn't exist until 1949).

Oh yea - as if I am shy about posting on here.

Nobody knows the actually contracts there players have - unlike others sports, most football contracts are not public knowledge (this is because there is no salary cap and teams do not have to disclose salary details to anyone). As a result - this is all speculation.

Taking Dunk - there are dozens of websites that purport to outline Dunk's salary and it varies between £38K a week up to £60K a week - the most common figure is £45K with a number of others at £49.5K. But again - this is all speculation as the only ones who know the true figure are the club owners and Dunk himself. The same applies to the rest of the squad.

Now - this all traces back to whether Duffy can be sold and if he will move to a championship club. I asserted that Duffy was one of the highest paid players at the club (which he is) and that no championship club (or PL club) will pay a transfer fee and take on that salary. Duffy has another 2 years to go on his contract and Brighton have to pay him. He can sit on the bench and draw £45K a week for two years and then go off as a free agent and sign another contract with another club that won't have to pay a fee for him. The most likely outcome is that he will go on loan again next season with Brighton carrying the can for a significant portion of his salary - other than that they will have to buy out at least part of the contract to move him on.

There have been numerous examples of this happening in the past - the one that springs to mind was Kevin Doyle when he was at Wolves. Doyle signed a four-year contract with Wolves in 2011 (apparently worth £40K a week) when they were in the PL. Wolves were then relegated twice to L1. Doyle refused to take a pay cut and was banished to train with a group of other players that Wolves were trying to unload. Wolves tried to sell him - willing to accept £2million - nobody would bite because of the size of Doyle's contract (primarily because he was having injury issues). Doyle eventually went on loan to QPR and then to Palace (he was injured while playing for both) so Wolves could recoup at least some of his wages, before making a handful of appearances for Wolves before they bought out the remainder of his contract and allowed him to join Colorado Rapids. Doyle was paid $1million a year plus bonuses while in Denver.

Im no specialist but I would argue that Dunk's agent is doing a remarkably terrible job in getting his client a new contract almost every year with very little increase in pay. That would be utter madness for a player that was being touted to top 4 clubs as recently as last year (Chelsea). He will most likely be the top earner or equal to the top earner. Most definitely not in the lower tiers that you suggest.

Doubt that - all reports are that Lallana is on over £90K a week - and is on significantly higher wages than any other player in the squad.
Which reports?
Are we talking about Dunk, as in Lewis Dunk our club captain? Its a guessing game but come on!

The FA will know how much players earn as all contracts need to be lodged with them within 10 days of being executed.

JRG put himself in a corner with talking about wages initially looking more like "facts" rather than the guesswork it is. Lot of horsey as well. BW is obviously not earning £6k a week for example. Not a chance in hell he would have accepted that deal after being chased by Leeds for £25m or whatever it was.

I do agree though that Lallana is likely the best paid player. Merited player who arrived on a free transfer from Liverpool and I imagine there were several teams in the league who had gladly wanted to sign him, so I imagine he got a good contract.

Don’t disagree with any of that. But to think that Dunk is in the lower tiers of our wage structure is utter madness.

I suspect Adam is the highest paid technically because he was a free transfer so as to keep him within the wage structure he would probably have been given around £2m signing on fee plus £55k a week salary , effectively making him the highest paid player if you add the £2m ish to the length of his contract .

Dunk on £55k plus win bonuses built into new contract .

Everyone else in the first team squad between £35-50k

That’s just my guesstimate .

I agree Dunk will be a top wage earner but I don't believe TB would ever allow some sort of 'match top earner' clause. I think realistically, they are as rare as 'pay as you play' contracts, 'player swap' deals and the Albion getting a goal going in off the woodwork

No idea re the numbers but suspect your theory is correct. People are too focused on 'weekly wage' rather than 'cost of contract' - measure is 'total compensation' not wages. As Clive Walker states, suggesting Duffy is in a higher pay tier than Dunk (who has a newer contract than Duffy) is bound to be incorrect.

All these figures being thrown about makes me smile, the reality is, as you say, is that none of us have any real idea what any of our players are earning.

Just a "guesstimate" is correct.
