New York without question.

Yes, it might be cold, but the place has character and a soul. Great bars, amazing restaurants, bags of entertainment great shopping. And a wonderful city for walking.

Dubai on the other hand is a plastic, soulless place. A sort of disneyland in the desert.

No contest .... if you want to go somewhere real choose NYC.

I am not a millionaire. Even if I was how does that mean I must have automatically visited New York to be one? Where is the logic to this then?

Youre just another wigger wannabe.

There's the Dubai Shopping Festival runs from now til 4th Feb. Followed swiftly by Dubai International Jazz Festival 8th-10th.

Average temperatures for February of around 24C (76F).

Know where I'd be headed

I love the Middle East, but Dubai isn't it. It is being developed into an Arabian Fantasyland. Far better check Oman before it loses its character completely. Sadly more adventureous places are off limits at the moment.

With NYC you either love or you hate it. I love it but I have friends in the City which always helps. It is totally unlike anywhere else in the US, and if you havn't been there I suggest you go. Each district has its own unique charms, I would start in the East Village, not unlike the North Laines in part. It is also a great City to drink and Party in.

NYC Wins on this one.

Having been to both I would plump for NYC

Dubai is great, but for quality sights (Central Park, Empire State, Yankees Stadium, Brocklyn Bridge, Staten Island Ferry, Harlem ) is has SO much more to offer than Dubai.

Try the museums, go and see a Basketball game at MSG, arrange a New York Greeter to take off the beaten track.

Dubai is fantastic, but a beach is a beach after all.

Dubai's top guy Sheikh Maktoum and No. 2 in UAE has just popped his clogs so it's a mandatory 5 day holiday for public and private companies alike.

RIP Sheikh

Better head to the beach and golf course then  It's a pleasant 24 degrees outside. Seems like just last week i was sat in U block being hailed on watching Millwall run rings around the Albion

Correct: there is no comparison. Dubai is without question the dullest place I've ever been to. It looks like Croydon but there's less to do there. It's also horrendously expensive - a five minute cab ride cost me £20 and be prepared to pay big bucks for a beer.

New York is fantastic. Plenty to do, plenty to see...and with the dollar so weak you can get fantastic bargains.

I wouldn't go to Dubai again if I was being paid to go as life is too short to waste it on a no-mark place...but I'd go to New York again like a shot.
