sorry if GOSBTS, KANCHELSKIS etc. but i was just wondering if people who have been to reserve games could tell me if loft is any good and worth a first-team place in the near future. after a recent reserve match i remember someone saying he would be pushing deano for a starting place soon, but i'd just like to know what the general consensus is...

thank you:wave:

I thought he looked quite lively in the reserve match I saw.
I believe he had a bit of a 'chest' for the Coventry game as he is asthmatic.
(cue all the moaners now asking why we have signed a player with asthma)

No need to rub it in. Many professional footballers suffer from asthma today...

It would be a big call to drop Chippy's intelligence and Hammond's workrate from the team.

is there anybody in the team (squad) you don't think deserves there place? hammond is a player i like but just lately his passing and decision making has been very poor and i feel he would maybe benefit from a spell out the team! think he reforms better when his place is under threat which it hasn't really been lately and as iv yet 2 see loft can't comment on if he's the 1 2 give dean a bit of competition

I believe that if Hinsh is fit and can slot in at right back with El Abd on the left until Jason Dodd is fit we could 'rest' Hammond and put Reid in midfield.

I have not been impressed with Hammonds performances this season he gets caught with the ball too often and his tackling is abysmal. His only plus is he works hard from end to end of the pitch but with very little end product.

As a goalscoring midfielder he has missed far too many chance. Perhaps he has got complacent about his place in the team as he is not the player who was given 3 months to prove his worth by MM.

the point i was trying to make above ! he also performed very well back end of last season when he'd been out the team for a while and got a few sub appearences before a string of decent performances got him a run in the team

The recent criticism of Hammond on here I find amazing. The only thing to me he seems guilty of is not living up to some ridiculously overhyped expectations of him (fuelled at the time no doubt by the widespread campaign to get Oatway out of the team).

Our next million pound player after Virgo one minute, not good enough for the team the next, there is never a middle way on here :)

To me he is one of the hardest working players on the team, covers so much ground, tackles hard, passes OK and gets into scoring positions without perhaps the composure all the time that we would ideally want. The progress he has made in the last 12 months has been absolutely superb.

But no, he is our new scapegoat, he is getting "Hardingized" :(

Never going to be a £1m player or another Virgo.

Covers every blade of grass achieving very little.

Nine times out of ten gives away a free kick when he tackles.

What most people are saying he is not playing like the player who MM gave 3 months to prove his worth to. He appears to have sat back and said I've got a contract and thats it.

Perhaps if we had the opportunity or man power dropping him may rekindle his appetite.

I like Hammond as a player, he just looks a bit jaded and tired to me. He is a young lad, a rest may do him good. Reid can play there and Nicolas is coming back. I wouldn't mind if Kerry was given another go given his good performance at Southampton.

I still think Hammond looks a better player on the left for us... and would give extra cover to our left back.

He seems to score when he plays there

Absolute bollocks. He hasn't been playing as well as he was before (or are you saying he has?) Why cant we drop him for a few games? No-one is suggesting we sack him ffs.

London Irish, it seems, will always support the starting eleven and McGhee regardless. He often contradicts himself greatly just to satisfy this.
