A serious thread here.

Has he done enough to win people over?

Although I didn't think he had the greatest of games yesterday, given that he's playing out of position (why not switch him and Fraser?) I think he's done FANTASTICALLY over the last few games, and is well worth a new contract.

Don't think we can ask any more from him than he's showing. Like Hart, Quite a turnaround given it didn't look like he'd be playing for us again a few months ago.

He tackles, he looks to move the ball forward, he's generally tidy in posession, has PACE and a sweet left peg - decent player I think, and good to see him giving it a good go.

Two good feet. Good to see him getting a chance and performing well. I think Slade likes him, hopefully people will start to see hes a good player and that hes not a joke!! (Probably down to some people on nsc)

I agree. I've always thought he was better than many on here gave him credit for, but I have been slightly surprised at how good he has looked recently.

Obviously confidence and the run of games he had on loan has done him the world of good. I would like to see him continue in the side even when our other midfielders are fit (ie. Al Bangura), as I think he has a future with this club.

Have to say I was pleasantly surprised yesterday BUT I'm not sure I would describe him as having pace... He looked to me like he had 5kg weights in each of his boots when he ran

He is top quality, I've seen it everytime he's ever played and I don't understand why other people haven't. He's got two quality feet, he gets forward well and he's been unlucky not to score yet. He so nearly did against Manchester City if you all remember us hitting the post, Dunne cleared it away from the on rushing Doug Loft!

The only thing is, he should be on the left of the diamond. I don't understand why he's playing on the right of it.

Can't run, won't tackle (well apart from that one time down the North Stand side second half), dubious distribution, runs around a lot in the general vicinity of the ball while not contributing very much much at all in the style of Dodgy Dan Harding.

Funny how they all suddenly look like world-beaters come contract renewal time. Just need Mayo and Dixon back in the side now and we've got the complete set ???

I've always thought he looked decent enough. He's a bit of a playmaker, which is something we don't really have elsewhere. He's not an amazing playmaker, but he offers us something different from the rest of our midfield.

Add to that the fact that he is probably dirt cheap in wages compared to most at this level, and it makes sense to keep him on the books in my opinion.

You are clueless.

He's not exactly had a chance to look like a 'world-beater' this season has he? Although I suppose there was the Man City game which he started, and got a standing ovation off the pitch.....

Sorry, but have had more than a bellyful of Albion soft-centred midfielders skipping around like schoolgirls 'doing a Thomson' this season. How on earth are we going to build anything worthwhile with these people? OK, Doug Loft may be cheap, but he's strictly non-league. Just because we won yesterday seems to be clouding a lot of people's judgement.

My view of Doug Loft has been built up over years, he is a far better player than most will realise, alot of people can't spot good techincal players. As this forum proves, you can have a potentially brilliant player at your club with the majority of fans not having a clue about it! He was wasted by us in the last couple of years, he needed to be playing and if he was then he'd be either the lynchpin of our midfield or at a better club. He can be *that* good, but now that he's playing people are starting to realise that. And will continue to have their eyes opened up by his ability.

Translated into non-NSC I think this means, "I beg to differ"

Sorry but I disagree with that. Loft is far from soft, he puts a shift in for the team and is not afraid to put a foot in when required. He is twice the player Thomson ever was for us, and there is no way, in light of his last 3 or 4 performances, that he can be labelled as 'strictly non-league'.

Also the win did not cloud people's judgement. I thought he was one of our best players when we lost to Swindon.

Has done better since returning. Watched him closely yesterday. Needs more self belief. Always looking to pass the ball. It's up to Slade and his coaches to install confidence into the young man. Shows promise but can he can up with the goods????. I think he would be lost playing at a higher level, but who am I to judge him

Loft is average. Nothing more nothing less. In the siutation we are in he is doing well. But you would not have him in your side if you were looking to get promoted from this league.
