Double standards from the FA

An absolute farce, Fergie gets away with murder, the FA don't dare touch him. Any other manager that criticises the referee is charged by the FA straight way, yet Fergie can berate lines-man, referees, make comments after the game and the FA still only ask him to clarify what he said. Double standards and it pisses me off. :censored::censored:

End of rant.

I believe the FA expect him to retire at the end of the season.

He said that the lineo is biased against Man U and quoted examples live on camera. How much more clarification is needed? If he gets away with it, which he probably will, it would be a joke

And even if they do find him guilty they will give him a paltry fine (like he needs the money) and a touchline ban, of which he has had many down the years. The only way he will shut his gob is if the FA start docking points.

I agree with what you are saying in the fact he gets a silly fine and a touch line ban, but docking Man U points is abit harsh, it's not the players or fans fault if Fergie is gobbing off! Would you expect us to be docked points if Gus was doing it???

I think it's disgusting. Ferguson is an exceptional manager but he brings negativity. My 6 year old was watching MOTD and asked me why he was complaining about the linesman. Why indeed? We teach our kids to not question the officials, so at what point did that change for Sir Alex?

Personally, I thought Pat Nevin hit the nail on the head when he said Rooney tripped over the defender, not the other way around. The buffoons Hansen and Murray chose to goad Nevin for doubting this "stonewall" penalty - a phrase, incidentally, that is overused by Hansen to comic proportions.

Yes, if that was the rule and Gus was stupid enough to kept gobbing off.

Thought Nevin was good on MOTD, but that isn't hard when we're comparing him to Shearer, Hansen etc

The point I'm trying to make is why punish the whole club for one man's comments??? It's not the players, fans and other key people's fault if one person is being a knob!
Personally I like Sir Alex and think it will be a sad day for football when he eventually goes! He does make stupid comments sometimes but a man that I respect alot!

Agree with this totally. Pat Nevin clearly points out that actually it's Rooney's left foot kicking the back of the defenders calf which meant he went down. The fact that Hansen and Murray at the end of the discussion said 'come on we'll give you one more chance to just admit it was a clear cut penalty' was appauling by them. If I was Nevin I'd tell BBC to do one, one of the much better pundits on there (when he actually gets air time)!

I think the comment you pick out highlights the difference between the Beeb standard pundit fodder and the quality elsewhere, i.e. Lee Dixon, Gary Neville, half the journos on Soccer Saturday.

God knows there are many penalties that are blatant errors by the officials and that wasn't one of them. Hansen and Lawrenson have had their day, but - like Garth Crooks and the BDO darts - the Beeb will blindly persist.

Just like the penalty situation at Old Trafford the away side never get one

The only stat I can find is this:

Between 2004 - 2009

Man U gave away 5 penalties at home, and 6 away.
Arsenal gave away 4 penalties at home, and 10 away.

Full stats here 2004-2009

So who has the refs in their back pocket again?

NB, not a Man U apologist, just prefer stats/facts

I read somewhere they have conceded 8 pens at OT in the last 10 seasons may not be correct though

Again, no facts but didn't Man Utd go something ludicrous like 8 years without conceding a pen at Old Trafford between 1998 and 2006?

I'd love another manager to learn what he said off by heart and quote it after a match (with the relevant evidence) just to see if they got the same treatment.

Not according to the stats I unearthed, maybe pre 2004 there was a period of time where none were awarded against them, but since then they have had more awarded against them at home than 4 other Premier League teams.

Pre-2004, indeed. Ruel Fox's penalty for Norwich in 1993 was the last one they had given against them at home until Steed Malbranque's for Fulham in the FA Cup quarter-final in 2004 (a game I was at, oddly). 11 years.
