You could be right, remember in Euro 96 Shearer was going into the tournament with a shocking run in internationally, came out top scorer and re-ignited his international career. I'm not for one second suggesting however that Andy Carroll can in ANY WAY be likened to Alan Shearer

Really? Why? Every time I've seen the guy he has played like Emile Heskey did for England, except he puts in less effort.
Most recently and notably, he was a major factor in Bayern Munich losing to a far inferior Chelsea side- woeful performance.

Postiga was Odds On to be mentioned in this thread. I feel that when the tournament is over, there should be a poll involving all nominations and the loser should be sent a brown donkey statue (small) to celebrate his ineptitude in front of Europe.
