Ted Cruz is a shmuck and wears ostrich skin cowboy boots. An obnoxious bully.

Other than all the bribes, corruption and Bridgegate what was wrong with Chris Christie?
He always came across as a decent chap.

The portly governor of New Jersey is probably one of the more sane Republicans but as well as Bridgegate a lot of hard-line Republicans have never forgiven him for shaking hands with Obama and thanking him for the assistance he gave to New Jersey after Hurricane Sandy

PS - since this photo Christie has lost about 300 pounds

I'm learning a lot from you lot on this. Need to do a lot of googling research. This must be the pay off from Trump for Christie's endorsement???
I enjoy a fair few American political commentators.
Somewhat ashamedly I'm considerably more up to date with what's going on over there (from a liberal perspective) than all the Thatcher Kinnock SDP nonsense we have going on in the UK, right now.

They write with a bite, for sure. Very enjoyable reading.

Trump won't win move on

Hopefully you are right, the problem is that if so Hilary wins. Lesser of two evils I suppose.

What's happened? Can't see anything on the news except his wife's dodgy modelling visa.

Things will have to get very bad - much worse than they are now - to result in the sort of doomsday scenarios currently being pondered.
It is a simple political calculus. The key, as always, is in the polls and public sentiment.
If Mr Trump appears to have a reasonable chance to win in November, he will persevere, as he has all year.
If his poll numbers crash, and Republican politicians start worrying more about losing their own races in November than alienating their party's base, the Trump-coaster could careen off the rails at last.
Going against Mr Trump is still a risky bet. And when it comes to preserving their jobs, politicians are all about minimising risk.

He is back on attacking migrants with the 4,000 Somalian refugees in New England, where he was speaking Thursday, bearing the brunt of his attacks. Somalia, migrants, terrorism at home, etc. He made little issue of the $400m given to Iran by the Democrats and spoke from the heart he obviously hasn't got on his pet topic, immigration.
A reaction to the killing in London and perhaps to Al Shabob using one of his racist rants in a recruitment video back in January.

This is a news chat about Trump's recruitment video. From earlier in the year. First couple of minutes show the spliced together footage. His vendetta now seems to be against Somalians rather than Al-Shabaab.

The man is imploding and Hillary is just sitting back laughing all the way to the White House..

There is the factor not many are taking into account that the very people that like Trump, this will entrench their view that Trump speaks for the ordinary man and the establishment are out to stop him. They honestly believe he is a hard working American who built his empire from scratch and is living the American dream rich and with a beautiful wife.

How wrong they are...

They are incredibly wrong, on all counts.
But being up against a dynasty politician who's 100% Washington, plays right into DT's tiny hands.

Yep and on a whole good honest Americans are falling for "I am the alternative to the establishment" line...

A third party is the only way to change American politics to keep in check the big two parties, it could split the votes and make them listen more to the public.

It may be too late to change. According to this article, (and it's quoting a Stanford professor of law so it's probably pretty accurate)Trump's name is already on the ballot in some states and, unless he's dumped in the next couple of weeks, will be on a lot more.

The article does explain that there is a mechanism for dumping him but it's extremely messy. If he's persuaded to stand down, that should be OK, but if he won't, Republicans would probably be in a worse mess.

What is interesting is that there's evidence (only from NH at the moment, so that could be an outlier state) that Trump's candidacy is affecting Republican senators' chances. If the NH experience is repeated in other states, however, the party could be stuck in a horror scenario - tied to a candidate who is damaging them, not only in the presidency, but in Congress too. The nightmare being that they can see what's happening, but not able to do anything about it

Just for a 'laugh', I'll throw this grenade into the mix.

As the Republican's refused to cooperate with Obama over the nomination, the next sitting President will definitely be choosing 1 Supreme Court judge, probably another, and maybe even a third if the tenure goes to 2 terms.

The Donald could be shaping American law for the next 20+ years. or

ive seen this is already a Democrat campaign message, i think from the Saunders camp to get his supporters to vote Hilary: you might hate her but you'll really, really hate Trump.

Well, not if they get shot first.

Has Trump finally crossed the line today - think that's one of the most outrageous things I've heard any mainstream politician say
