Apart from the patronising / facebook tone of the above
(not having a go at you, it’s just a bit sensationalist and condescending, I take your point completely),

I don’t believe that’s what he is doing. I lean more to the idea that he’s a narcissistic fuckwit who can’t help but tank everything because he needs to be seen as being a hero but hasn’t got the sense God gave a mule.

Agree thats what he is but again, there's still nothing he's done or proposing to do that doesn't help Putin...

I know it's been said many times but what a shameful c/nut he is talking about "dividing up assets" in Ukraine and no mention of the people and their suffering. Maybe a rogue Ukrainian can take aim.
It’s absolutely revolting rhetoric and as far as I am concerned this is blatant and unashamed proof that Putin and Trump are allies and working together.

Having said that, it’s completely irrelevant. Nobody is going to go for their “deal” and nobody will. Trump is obsolete and Putin is never going to be able to dictate the terms of a ceasefire.

They’ll come up with a deal that can’t be agreed to by any sane country. Then Trump will declare that Zelenskyy is a dictator and doesn’t want peace and cease all U.S. assistance in the hopes that Putin will win and Trump and him can divide up the assets between them.

In my opinion, if Trump could get away with providing troops and arms to Russia, he would.

Scum.

so we're saying he's a master strategist, planning ahead 3 or 4 moves, anticipating and countering his opponents over months even years?

not someone who changes mind on a whim, bankrupted most companies he ran (including a casino), and thought Covid could be cured by shining light inside the body.

on radio this morning they suggested he's refering to the operational processes of how some things are run in affected areas. or put another way, he misunderstood something, talked out of his arse to the press, and now we can get very annoyed and upset about that. Ukraine are signed up to an unconditional ceasefire (not a peace deal) and yet keep seeing stories making out like it's a bad idea, sowing division and confusion. i wonder who might benefit from that?

It can be both things. There’s no doubt Trump is an idiot. But he’s surrounded himself with, and listens to, people that have more extreme views than he does.

This was the commentary way before the election - with Project 2025, he was coming back with a plan and a stronger team. There’s less opposition than before in all areas of government.

This is why we’re seeing what we’re seeing.

Trump's 2nd-Term Approval Rating With Hispanics Slips to Record Low: Polls

President Donald Trump's approval rating has taken a hit during his second term among Hispanics, slipping to tie its lowest point thus far, according to a new Economist/YouGov poll.

In Wednesday's Economist/YouGov poll, Trump's approval rating with Hispanic U.S. citizens is 34 percent versus a 56 percent disapproval rating. Last week's poll showed Trump with a 45 percent approval score among the demographic, with a 52 percent disapproval mark.

This week's 34 percent approval ties a February 9-11 survey by Economist/YouGov, marking the lowest of his second term. Wednesday's poll was taken from March 9-11 among 1,699 U.S. citizens, with a margin of error of 3.2 percent.

It's astonishing that anyone, from anywhere, still approves of the twunt.

How did Germans allow it to happen in the 30s? Ask many people.

The parallels are astonishing. We live in a different time but the erosion of state apparatus, judiciary & freedom of the press etc is happening in front of all of us (particularly the US).

This is how it happened and it is potentially heading that way again at an alarming rate. But it's ok some random bloke on Facebook is an expert says it'll be for the good of all of us, so nothing to worry about.

An important catalyst in Germany was poverty and the sense of grievance this created among ordinary folk - in their case a result of several factors: the Versailles treaty, hyperinflation and the Great Depression.

In the US today, massive inequality and poverty in certain states (the “rust belt”) has had a similar effect. Sarah Kendzior writes about this extensively in relation to Missouri.

The UK is still vulnerable to similar forces, yet our government wants to continue with austerity policies instead of tackling the roots of our own inequality. The lessons from a century ago have been forgotten.

At the British Museum, there’s an exhibit about the evolution of money. It
includes this photo of 1920s German children using bundles of cash to build a tower, because it had become virtually worthless.

Trump giving a speech at The DOJ saying that news channels and newspapers being critical of him are acting illegally.
How long before he signs yet another Executive Order declaring reporters terrorists and arresting them. It won't be long before Trump has a Propaganda Department, overseeing all media, to ensure there is no critical comments against Trump.

I liked English at secondary school and Animal Farm was a book we did for one of the exams. I really liked it and consequently read quite a few more of his - including of course 1984. At the time(in my youthful naivity) I didn’t really imagine it would eventually become reality but……
