I'll roll back a bit to keep us on topic as I feel like our shared passions have lead us astray. No one in this conflict is 'good' or 'perfect' not Zelinsky or anyone else - they are all out for their own ends and for want of a better word - cash. All this euphoric bloodlust posted on NSC over recent hours calling for the world to unite and attack Russia under the banner of some banal hashtag just sickens me. I have seen evidence of such suffering occurring to ordinary men and women I just want this war to end, however that happens. I have a son, I would fight to stop him fighting a war for money men and hashtags. I think you are being manipulated by someone richer and more intelligent than both of us under the guise of a giant Ukranian flag covered in hashtags and it scares me. I just want peace not more countries entering a war with no obvious victor?
Unbelievable! Would you allow your son to fight for his country if it were invaded and threatened with being over run? Ukraine didn't start the war and there is no evidence that if they were able to push the Russians back to their border they would want to continue into Russia. As for the assertion Zelensky is in this for the cash, absolutely laughable and straight out of the RT propaganda!

My Dad was regular Navy in 1939, and served on convoys. America only came into the war once Japan attacked. Everything they sent to Britain was on lend-lease. We had to pay every dime back.
Russia was helped by us taking convoys to Murmansk, from NI, Iceland and Scotland. In 2012, the Arctic Star was finally awarded. I claimed my Dad’s posthumously. Another veteran told me the Russians had also issued a medal, which I could claim from the Russian embassy. I refused because my Dad couldn’t stand the USSR.
He saw what happened when the Allies reached Berlin. Within three years, the USSR tried to cut Berlin off from West Germany. 1948, we had to organise an airlift to sustain Berlin. 1961, the wall was built.
Poland and the other East European countries were as occupied as they were under the Nazis.

In 1989, Glastnost was welcomed by the world as freedom at last by Europe finally open again.
Only Belarus has been reclaimed by Moscow. I worked with a woman from Belarus who married a Brit. She was diagnosed with terminal cancer 12 years ago, and wanted to visit her family. The Belarussian Embassy refused to give her a visa, saying she should use her old passport, not her British one. She knew if she did, she wouldn’t get out again. They also refused to let her sisters visit here to see here.

Yet, we still have Putin apologists here saying Velenskyy should just give in. Forget their stolen children, and their country. Just allow Putin & Trump to walk in and help themselves.
I don't think it's right to call folk 'Putin apologists' because they have a view that comes from a different angle. I don't like seeing epithet distraction being used to dismiss someone from a chamber of confirmation. It makes a discussion redundant.

I think folk are concerned that Ukraine has no way out of this now but to offer uncomfortable concessions and they are looking at how that can be done in a way that ends the killing. It's important to realise that all this arm chair analysis is being done in a safe space and without threat. It's something that irks me. If folk were on the frontline they might feel different. Most of the opinions of the 'apologists' are said with good heart, even if miss-guided, and it is from that point they should be addressed.

Of course, the best way out of this war would be for the old men who started it and the real estate oligarchs to have an epiphany. But alas that isn't happening yet. There is no justice.

Not entirely true. They joined WW2 when they were attacked by the Japanese who had a pact with the nazis. Therefore being at war with Japan also meant they were at war with Germany and Italy!
As a final clarification - the US only declared war on Japan. Hitler then declared on the US in turn.

For anyone i've engaged in robust dialogue on NSC over the last 12 hours or so, having had a break from the forum for a short while, consumed some beans on toast and taken contemplative bounce on my kids trampoline in the garden, I say this. I've changed my mind, I see it your way, lets give it to Putin and start the war. Why not what have we got to lose? In any case I'm now returning to robust dialogue about the Albion. Peace out, or not peace, whatever you think is best.

One old man started it.
Putin.

Suggest you go back to the trampoline and away from your keyboard...

Our enemy, the uk's enemy.
Trump supports Putin, our enemy.
Clear enough for you?..

Only that you and I are obviously not on the same 'side' politically or other.
Perhaps you do speak for the UK, fair enough I'll not contest that
Though I am no supporter of Trump or Putin, as you put it
So no, no clearer really, though carry on.
