Hmm, the man apparently has appeared on Russian sponsored TV to discuss Ukraine, been invited to speak at the UN by Russia, been criticised for spreading COVID misinformation…

He sorta kinda maybe has a point about European foreign policy but other stuff is dead wrong. For example, suggesting the Serbian wars were led and caused by the US rather than, say, Serbian expansionism and a complex web of ethnic tensions unleashed by the collapse of communism…

…yeah, I’m filling this one under Russian talking points.

The broader point is that strategically wouldnt it be great to strengthen ties within the Euro nations and build power that way (and more independence) rather than continue to be a vassal state of the US serving mainly to further its militaristic tendencies / nation building (interference)" that has proved so disastrous.

I don't have him on ignore and have read his recent posts. it's rather incredible he has moved from using laughing emojis to actual words and sentences without actually managing to say anything worthwhile.

You’re wasting your time trying to argue with Spence or make him see your point of view. He doesn’t care. All that appears to matter to him is that somewhere some “libs” are getting “owned”. And any fact-based, legitimate criticism of the administration can be conveniently brushed off as “Trump Derangement Syndrome” (an odd term which only appears to be a thing among the hyper-online right wingers and which appears to exist more in their heads than in real life).

At least that’s the impression he gives, and his activities on this thread certainly give that impression.

Check his Wikipedia page and the links it has references. Also, take a closer look at the timeline of the account that shared this video and tell me it’s not pro-Russian.

That’s the new reality we face, yes. But, he’s arguing from a very disingenuous viewpoint.

• “Trump and President Putin will agree to end the war” ~ Trump can’t unilaterally agree to end a war he’s not fighting in
• “If Europe does all its great warmongering, it doesn’t matter, the war is ending” ~ no point Europe opposing this Trump/Putin deal
• Despite all its warmongering, Europe had “no voice”, it’s just a US lapdog. Bit of a contradiction in terms that
• “This idea that Putin is reconstructing the Soviet Union is childish propaganda” ~ then a whole bunch of stuff about how this war is Ukraine’s fault. Note that a deal was on the table, and they supposedly walked away. They chose war…this is exactly what Trump said!!

There’s a central point that Europe would be better off without the US. That’s only been true for four weeks, since Putin’s favourite orange patsy came back to power and flipped the script. Before that, it was unthinkable. It’s Putin’s greatest victory, and he’s left Europe no choice. Some strategy we have.

I’m in no doubt this guy is another of his patsy parade. The giveaway is a blatant lie about past wars, but the Putin talking points are all there.
