Oh the shame of allowing a black woman to think she could be President. Let’s blame the Democrats!

it doesn’t compare with a British election where there are six or more political parties to choose from.
Strange comment - you think the Democrats are blameless in keeping Biden on for so long, and then appointing Harris?

USA already elected a Black man - why not a black woman?

Nothing to do with her colour, or her sex, just the fact that she was completeley out of her depth.

Maybe pay attention to the Republican view of women.

I think both parties should have had better candidates but then which one was being bankrolled and by whom?

I see Trump has said that Ukraine started the war , he must be getting his inside info from Musk.

I see Trump has said that Ukraine started the war , he must be getting his inside info from Musk.
It's worse than that, he's now calling Zelenskyy a dictator without elections, completely overlooking the fact that when a country is at war, they don't tend to have elections, as it gets in the way of the way effort.

Says that he is only polling at 4% as totally disliked, he must of got this false figure from Putin or Musk, as its around 50%

And goes onto say that all admit only his administration can achieve peace. No doubt if you are giving everything that the invader is asking for you will achieve peace, but anyone can do that.

When does WWIII start?

I don’t think we need worry about that .

Trump has tried to change a few laws and has been shut down quite definitively.
I know what I’m about to say marks me out firmly in the Tin Foil Hat Club but… I would not be at all surprised if there’s some sort of major “incident” in the States in the next four years that will be deemed to necessitate emergency powers.

I hope to god that I’m wrong.

They would need something to allow them to suspend democracy.

I know it's fiction, but The Handmaid's Tale is eerily close to what's happening now.

It's an absolute disgrace. European countries must all stand up to Trump and vociferously defend Zelensky and Ukraine.

I wouldn't be surprised if thirsty Trump still being pissed off about being made to look a chump over this story is something to do with his latest ranting:

Personally got nothing to do with being a black woman, she is weak & didn't appear to have any policies. Rightly or wrongly she was far to closely associated what people viewed as a failed Biden administration.

If anyone fails to see that the world is at the beginning of the biggest geopolitical crisis since ww2, then they have their head in the sand. Some terrible things are about to happen and we can only hope it is not too close to home.

Trump is the biggest threat to world peace, and he's back with a vengeance. For all its faults, the USA has been a protector of peace in the West, but it no longer is and nor can it be trusted anymore. NATO, WHO and other international bodies that have protected us all for so long are ending.

The war in Ukraine. The wars in the Middle East. China. The rise of the far-right in Europe. The imminent international financial crisis that will occur as a result of Trumps tarriffs and a global trade war. It is all brewing and will not end well.

I feel we have to brace ourselves for all kinds of conflicts in Europe, civil wars, coups, international conflicts and perhaps even a world war.

The thing I find most troubling in all this is where the sane voices in Washington have gone? The Democrats have basically clammed up and vanished into the ether, but where are the likes of the joint chiefs, the senior bods in the security services, these kinds of people. Surely there must be SOMEONE in the entire USA who’s prepared to stand up and say “actually this is wrong”? Have they all collectively lost their spines?

Weirdly, every interview I saw with her she had very clearly defined policies and plans. She was actually really detailed on how to deal with most of the major issues, including the economy, immigration, defence etc. I actually think she was too detailed so it was much more difficult to boil them down to easy to digest soundbites like "They're eating the cats, they're eating the dawgs".

That and the fact that they should have positioned Biden as a one term president and started the succession plan years earlier. Whoever came in was a loser from the start

It's nearly impossible to boycott American products/services btw.
Quite.

I remember arguing with Newcastle fans during their transformation into the Saudi Regime Sportswashing Puppet. They were, rather spuriously, pointing out we should stop watching Disney media if we hate the Saudi regime so much as they've got a minor stake in Disney. Which is, fine, whatever. I made the point that we, invidually, can only do so much.

Nothing is clean these days. Our computers and phones probably have conflict materials in them. The Internet generates an enormous carbon footprint of which this very post is a part of. We can't boycott everything, even if it would soothe our moral qualms because then we'd all be sitting in the dark and nobody could see our smug smiles.

We can only do what we are able to do within our means and own moral frameworks.

I'm trying to do my bit. Stopped using Amazon (though not entirely as we make use of AWS at work). My admittedly meagre investments have been moved to funds that don't contain US tech. Twitter account gone, Facebook gone years ago. Google is harder as I'm deep into that ecosystem but, as you say, can't boycott all of it.

Reddit is the next one for me. I spend too much time on that site anyway.
