Valid points there but, once again, people are taking Trump's ridiculous claims as genuine and actually analysing and evaluating them !

He's unhinged and uncontrollable and there's no one backstage to tell him to stop running his mouth off.

No need to take this apart for all the reasons we all know, a simple " No Chance " from the international community is all that's needed.
When a leader is no longer responding to diplomatic pressure, the international community has two options; war, or look the other way.

See Germany, circa 1938-9

The only way this stops is if the GOP finally find their courage to stand up to him. That he's crossed a bridge too far. That's not looking remotely likely so far. He's crossed a lot of bridges already. And left most of them burning.

Our best hope might be that nature finally does what it tends to do to elderly men.

Just waiting for the deranged Trump fans to suggest he never meant it anyway and it was all about leverage for a hypothetical deal that really wasn't one because it's 6D chess in war against the deep state and artifical sweeteners and I can't be bothered.
