It's really not difficult, it's as simple as you put it here. And I don't think anyone will go far wrong by assuming that anyone making excuses like "he was throwing his heart to the crowd" and "it was a roman salute" are, in fact, nazi sympathisers themselves.

Can’t speak for the “whole American Jewish Community” because there isn’t any such thing in America or anywhere - Jewish people are very diverse and come from a wide rage of political backgrounds.

However a few Jewish people from one specific background/political persuasion are both shocked and not surprised- they have known for a long time that white supremacy is a feature in the rise of Trumpism.

You're close, but not quite. A man who gives nazi salutes is a nazi, and anyone who makes excuses for him is at the very least a nazi sympathiser.

If you don't want people to think you're a nazi, don't do nazi salutes. And if you don't want people to think you sympathise with nazis, why are you on here sympathising with the guy who does nazi salutes (and is therefore a nazi)?

I mean, is there a better phrase for a someone who sympathises with nazis than "nazi sympathiser"?

In his character of Jonathan Pie, Tom Walker nails it yet again. But in truth, he's been saying the same thing for the last 8 years since Clinton described a mass of Trump voters as 'deplorables'. A left liberal elite that lost that election has lost this one too. Could it happen here? It may well be uncomfortable listening to the point where some might either dismiss it simply as part of the Pie schtick or just use simple snobbery by questioning the intelligence of American voters, but that isn't going to be helpful. Pretending an issue doesn't exist has never resolved it. And learning from the mistakes of others is a lot less painful than from one's own.

When I was growing up, being left wing was all about freedom of speech and free expression and bridging the gap between rich and poor. But then the left liberal elites decided en masse to abandon the class struggle and instead alleviated the guilt it felt whenever it avoided eye contact with yet another homeless person by petitioning the local arts centre for gender neutral toilets. The Democratic Party amazed that by abandoning the working classes, the working classes abandoned them.

And look at the Labour Party here. Labour. The clue is in the title. And yet they spent half of last year unable to define what a working person is. No wonder they are about as popular as a cancer diagnosis with many of their natural supporters treating Nigel Farage like the Second Coming. When you concentrate on diversity quotas rather than crippling economic inequality and tokenistic socially progressive sticking plasters while completely ignoring the poverty-stricken, look what happens! American companies abandoning Diversity, Equity and Inclusion wholesale because now we see that the right have won the culture war because the left have done nothing but try and win the culture war for well over a decade (although Trump dancing with the Village People has done more for the gay community than any diversity quota ever could, let's be honest).

But when the left ignore people's genuine concerns over immigration for fear of seeming a bit racist, you get nasty opportunistic populists enacting mass deportations. When the left abandon free speech, the right pick it up and they run with it. And then they own it. And then we get to a point where anyone can say anything about anyone and just label it 'free speech' where defamation laws are ignored by billionaire loud mouths. Free speech innit! And the people at the top can lie and lie and lie. Free speech innit! When the left offer no solutions, people begin to believe the lies of the right."

I agree with some of what he says, but have a different angle on it.

The question is less about the approach of the 'left' and more about the representation of its approach in common media. And this is where we miss the biggest threat to good society.

The left doesn't spend most of its time promoting a 'woke' agenda. But when it is put through the media prism it does appear to do so. And folk are influenced by what they see and hear. The reason why the whole world is about woke is because the headline makers have made it as such. The reason why immigrants are apparently evil is because the headline makers made it such. The reason why this Labour government is the worst ever is because the headline made it such. As frustrating as it is, folk just follow. I've met plenty of people who despise Socialism but cannot tell me what it is. All because Rupert Murdoch and friends made it a dirty word. There are people in America who actually believe Biden was a communist because Trump said so.

This is not to say that headline writers never speak of things honestly or subjects that are relevant. Even the Daily Mail has some excellent spotlights and I would applaud their features on Alzheimers. But most of the time folk need to step back and realise that the headlines are agenda setting politically biased promotions of personal ideology and take a step back. Or, like me, never read any newspaper or publication that isn't just printing something matter of fact or telling me whether Albion have injuries for this coming Saturday.
