Oh. It's very difficult to tell with republicans.
Did you know that Republican is an anagram of 'parody human'? It is, if you believe it is. And I want to believe.

In all seriousness though, falsification of business records is a misdemeanor at most , it should never have been charged as a felony , he has been stitched up. And I'm betting he goes to jail.

How come that speech wasn't slander?
All of this won't mean Jack Shit to all the MAGA NUTZ.

However, even though I knew all that. I still wanted him hounded through the courts for all his crimes. Even if f he doesn't go to jail and I don't care if he never does.

To see him looking totally exhausted and running on empty with only 3 or 4 bulshitt lying talking points to repeat time after time. That is enough for me. So long as he doesn't manage to get Russia to help him steal the Election. I will be fine with that and all the other convictions. His demise will be punishment enough for me.

I can't see him living another 10 years. So just getting past November is all I really need now.

In the state of New York in 10,000 falsification of business records convictions the defendants were almost always sentenced to jail. This was one of the most serious offenses ever a defendant was found guilty of committing. It does look very likely that Trump could be sentenced to 6 to 12 months of jail time. Judges usually try to be consistent with previous sentences handed out.

In the real world, ex-Presidents don’t go to jail though do they? Isn’t it an unwritten rule? Will his state funded and guaranteed lifelong security detail share a cell with him? Not going to happen. Unfortunately.

He did it specifically to help him win an election though. So its not just disguising payments to a porn star, it was an act of election fraud.

[edit] I see this has already been pointed out.

Anyhoo, when it comes to sentencing, I don't think he's done himself any favours today standing outside the court again, calling the whole trial as being rigged and saying that the judge is corrupt.

If he wanted the judge to cut him a break in July, thats not gonna help.

Correct, falsification of business records is a “misdemeanor” crime under US law. It becomes a felony crime if the falsifying is with the intent of furthering a separate crime. It’s this latter point which changed his charges from a minor to a major crime. Had there not been further intent with his book cooking he wouldn’t be a felon. In short, he wasn’t stitched up at all….as a unanimous decision on all 34 charges shows.

On the subject of whether he'll be able to vote in Florida, given that he is a convicted felon.

In Florida, a felon convicted in Florida loses their right to vote until they've completed all their sentence and paid all related fines and costs. However, Florida law says that if you are convicted in another state, then that states rules will apply (except in a few causes of particularly violent and / or sexual crimes). So it's NY law that applies here. In NY, a felon can vote, so long as they aren't currently incarcerated. So, likely, convict Trump will be able to vote in November.

Note: I am not a lawyer, this is just my understanding from what I've read from various sources.

Of course, if NY does actually stick him in Rikers Island, then he wouldn't be able to vote from there. But this seems unlikely since he is a first-time offender. However, there is the chance that the judge will also take into account Trump's total lack of remorse and his continued attacks on his court and decide to throw the book at him. But this judge has already tried his best not to jail Trump for contempt already, so I think he is well aware of how problematic it would be to jail him. Even if the judge did decide to give him the maximum four years, I'd imagine he would remain free pending appeals that may take months or years to resolve. And, of course, if Trump wins in November he will not go to jail until he leaves office. Note that he wouldn't be able to pardon himself, since this is a state conviction, not a federal one, but it is established that you cannot jail the sitting president.
