He would have been disastrous for his own defence on the stand. Just look at the way he twists stuff in his speeches and statements - he gets away with it because no-one picks him up on it (or if they do he just talks bollocks over them). He wouldn't have got away with that in court - it would have been even more obvious to the jury that he was a liar, and would do anything to save himself / get himself elected. I bet the prosecution were looking forward to having him take the stand.
Trump being asked awkward questions by a skilled prosecutor would have been an event for the ages. As always though he bottled it before his unhinged rant about wanting to take the stand in a safe space where he couldn’t be asked anything. The bloke is a fraud

Screw it. I like him now. He's SO funny. I think he's just having fun isn't he? We've all fallen for it.
Funny, strange, yes (I've said this since before he was president). Funny, comically, not so much.

I get bored listening to him now. He rambles on about the same old shit, in the same old way and nothing is EVER his fault.

He's a tedious man who, let's face it, wasn't (and won't be) a very good president.

Thunder Bolt

Silly old bat
I fear people are falling for his game again, giving, starting to call him a felon etc before the appeal is done, seems there is a chance it could be overturned, then what? He comes back even more deranged but can point to the corrupt system.
He is already a convicted felon by a jury. That is a fact. He may or may not get an appeal, which may or may not overturn his convictions, but at present he is a convicted felon.

Yep.

He's a convicted crim today.

Legal mechanisms in theory could change this but unless and until that happens, he's a convicted crim.

It includes Israel - so with arrest warrants out for Netanyahu and Putin both wanted for war crimes, and Trump now a convicted felon, global travel for the potential leader of the free world to meet up his buddies just became a whole lot more complicated 😂😂😂

The best joke I heard was from Bill Maher who said when Trump exited the New York Court house after being found guilty on 34 counts a bunch of supporters were outside singing "For he's a jolly good felon. For he's a jolly good felon. That nobody can deny."

People can mutter darkly about conspiracies, or provide endless clinical legal analysis. But all this loses sight of the central issue for me — that a married man in the public eye with a future plan to enter politics, shouldn’t sleep with porn stars and blithely pay them off to keep quiet. The morality of Trump’s actions, and the sheer folly and level of misjudgment displays massive character weaknesses not fitting for a president. It amazes me that his supporters and apologists never stop and think about the character of the man.

What concerns me is the wider picture here that people seem to be oblivious to:

The office of POTUS doesn’t just affect the US but whomever holds that office influences global economic and geo-political stability in a way no other world leader could - except perhaps Putin or XI.

An unstable America in the grip of civil breakdown is an unstable world.

Even if it doesn’t come to that:

Trump’s relationship with Putin, his obsessive attempts at bromances with other world dictators, his family influences and connections to the far right extremists Zionists in Netanyahu’s Government ; His climate change denying policies; His brand of populism that thrives on racial conflict, whether it be Islamophobia or prejudice against ethnic minorities, that requires people to hate others in order to flourish - and Trump is pumped for it.

Trump’s form of populism threatens to gain traction in British politics through the likes of Boris Johnson and Suella Braverman- more significantly for me, Liz Truss - all of whom have endorsed and continue to endorse Trump’s campaign for the Presidency.

Nah - my concern is not that he is a misogynist that can’t keep his pants up or is a law-breaking, weird looking blundertwunt - it is the political danger he presents to all of us, whether we live in the States, in Europe or the UK or indeed the Middle East.

But then this is a football forum - of course his affairs with Stormy Daniels and his character deficiencies makes for better reading than any political evaluation of the man . 😂

Ah - but he has stated numerous times that he didn't have sex with her.

If he had testified at his trial that would have been one of the first questions he would have been asked. No wonder he was worried he might 'accidentally' commit perjury!

That's why he did not testify...he would have been cut to ribbons. Easier for him to whinge that he had been gagged.

Also why he didn’t take any press questions and did his post verdict speech on private property from the foyer of Trump Tower ( the NY Department of Buildings should demolish that monstrosity btw ) - funniest thing was him winging about still being under a gag order and not allowed to say anything about the trial at his post verdict speech before launching into a 10 minute abusive tirade on the Judge, the Prosecutor and the DoJ as well as discrediting all the ( ‘unnamed’ ) witnesses for the Prosecution- what a dumbo.

Especially when so many of those supporters claim to hold the notion of family in such high regard.

I doubt there is anyone who posts on this thread who is oblivious to anything about Trump.

The only game in town is how can Trump be stopped?

Frankly if he can't stand because he's in jail for a parking offense, this would be good enough for me.
