£19M price tag, yes, we might have gone for that - but ex-Chelsea, ex-Liverpool - I imagine wages would be way, way above our maximum (and I think we've got one or two on 'top earner' deals, haven't we?)

I agree, think it is more about wages than the fee as we paid £14 million & £16 million on players who had scored less goals than him in PL. Personally and have said it a few times maybe we need to promote some of our own talent and get Connollly in.

Cannot complain at the price, seems the Reds have some decent add ons as well.
IMO £19m in today’s money for a player with his pedigree isn’t that far off. Give him 18 months and then we will all know if it’s a punt or not. Clyne was also a clever move.
What does this mean for the Reds? Probably Kelly from Bristol city as back up full back and Timo Werner from Leipzig, good business ....... if it happens.

8 goals from 46 senior games and 1 in 21 in the PL makes it a big gamble for a PL team as far as I can see. A Championship side paying < £10m I could understand as a good gamble but this seems a big risk and I am surprised we were interested. A Bloom signing is normally 25-26 or someone who has had at least one good season in a senior team if younger (Bissouma).

That is eye-watering money for a player with no track record in the Premier League. I’d be a little concerned that he could only score one goal for that Liverpool side.
