Dogs or Cats

Barrel of Fun

Abort, retry, fail
I used to help walk two dogs with my friend, who lived in Devon. One dog was blind and the other was deaf. Made trying to find them after the walk interesting.

Cats win easily. Low maintenace and intelligent.

Cats all the way for me. Much more convenient and less hassle than a dog. I'm the proud owner of pedigree British Blue Shorthair called Baggio (after the Italian player). The same cat you see in the Sheba adverts.

Dogs are great if you have time to invest in them and can train them and give them all the exercise they need. And of course get a proper dog and not some rat on a lead!

cats alwayslook at my site
we spend a lot of our time taking in strays .
cats will only be spiteful because we make them that way and the one we have now is entitled to be that way abandoned in rural wales.stray and starving for over six weeks and she is blind ,we thought she was going to die the first night we had her but the plucky little sod is still going and getting better every day.

hope the bastard that dumped her comes back in the next life as a mouse.

Cats.

They bury their own crap (in someone else's garden if you're lucky).

They're far more intelligent than dogs. Chuck a stick and a dog will happily chase it around for hours. A cat will look at you as if to say "are you completely insane?".

You can leave a cat to its own devices, by and large.

Cats don't have any urges to roll in fox shit or leap in the sea and come out, shaking the water all over everyone within 10 metres.
And when they do fall in water, it's funny.

Cats don't sniff people's crotches or hump their legs.

Cats don't do that thing where they lift their back legs and drag their bums along the floor.

In fact the only embarrasing thing they do is lick their arses.

Cats, totally. You can go out on a weekend, come back in really late, sleep in until the late afternoon and never have to worry about walking them.

Walking the dog needn't be a chore.

I like Eddie Izzards summary on cats and dogs.

Dogs have owners, cats have staff.

I would say that I prefer dogs but there's not a whole lot in it. The only main difference is that the vast majority of aggresive dogs are that way due to the way their owners treat them. Obnoxious cats on the other hand are that way inclined because they are inherently spiteful animals.
I'm sorry but that's the biggest load of bullshit i've ever read. The rules are the same for any animal, if you give them proper attention then they get used to being around humans and will be friendly. I've had 3 cats and they've always been friendly towards everyone. Spiteful cats are that way because their owners don't give a shit about them.
Cats win everytime for me. Although I don't dislike dogs they generally smell and won't leave me alone when I can't be arsed to play with them.
As a rule I never trust a women with a big dog

Dogs are more the loyal companion, but cats are just cooler.

They require far less attention and effort, and just do as they please regardless.

In fact if you stop feeding them they'll just find some other mug to do it.

I love dogs but they're just too much effort for a lazy sod like me. You can go away for weeks at a time and come back to find your cat hasn't suffered whereas you leave your dog for 24 hours and the chances are it'll have torn up most of your furniture and possessions, shat all over your home and eventually died.

Far too much hassle. you know where you stand with a cat

24 hours - you'ld be lucky to make 4 hours with our dogs, and I wouldn't swap them for any cats

Listen pal, a while ago I lived with a woman who had ten cats, they all had different personalities even though they were treated the same. When you know what your taling about let us all know. You comment about not trusting women with big dogs is a trifle Freudian too. The four dogs I'm currently looking after three of which are large alsations are mainly looked after by my cousin's wife, they're as friendly as you could want.

I'm sorry but I agree with Billy. Treat them well and your cats will give you very little hassle, just as you will find with dogs.

Perhaps your friend with ten cats couldn't possibly give them all the same level of attention, or maybe they weren't all reared with her from birth. A lot depends on their original background.

When I was at uni we had a cat who adopted us and we would occasionally feed it and lavish attention upon him but he was a vicious little bastard who'd attack anyone for coming close to him. However, by the end of the 2 years we'd been living there he was like a different animal altogether. We spent time and effort giving him some love and it ultimately paid off as he'd rarely get even remotely aggressive by the end of it all. In fact you could even stroke his tummy if he was in the mood, which would have previously resulted in a severe feline mauling.

A cat raised with love from birth will not be mean and vicious

this I put on all my emails

but that when well-treated they are good at remembering kindness

Well f*** it then, debate over, you know everything. Mods, can we close the thread please because bhaexpress has lived with a woman who had 10 cats

That is what you put in your original post. That is bullshit. So would you label those 10 cats, or even the cat you're looking after at the moment inherently spiteful? Have you ever even owned a pet? Pal.

Cats have long memories too, my brother has a female tabby who was chased around the house by a couple of children who were visiting, as a result the cat hates children and runs off and hides whenever there are any around. She is totally different with adults and will happily wrap herself around your ankles and purr contentedly. I suppose ultimately whether you prefer cats or dogs depends on what you are used to, I grew up in a house with a cat in it, as a result I would definitely have one myself but have never really seen the attraction of having a dog.

Dogs. We have 4 and my husband is meant to be bringing another fur baby home at the weekend.

Really I like our goats best though.
