I actually think Butters has performed better the last few games, particularly at Luton, and missing a few games and getting a rest inbetween the matches he starts might have done him good.

BUT

I don't see how people who have never had access to the training ground could possibly know whether or not Butters would make a good coach or not.

I think the 'jobs for the boys' attitude there seems to be at Brighton is one of the few negative aspects of the club.

If he gets all his badges and proves himself as a coach then by all means give him a job but nobody on here can possibly know how effective he would be in this job.

i agree - why wasnt there this clamour for oatway, rogers, blackwell, carpenter - players who ended their professional careers with us to get coaching roles?

at the end of the day he will be fourth choice centre back next season at best. and if pearson is as good as he is supposed to be then he could well find himself behind him as well

Nobody knows how anybody will ever do in a job they have never done.

But i am a firm believer in nurturing talent and the bloke has buckets on the field just has to prove he can transfer that across to coaching!!!

And i believe in giving people a chance with full support as well

Im not sure Butters has buckets of ANYTHING apart from KFC...

Bit harsh don't you think?

Think he has been really good for the team over the last 8 years

I don't think he has done 8 years with us

Did he post on NSC?

Was going to post EXACTLY the same thing.

Nice bloke by all accounts and does his best on the pitch but does not mean he should walk into a coaching job.

Football has, hopefully, moved on from the days when old players became coaches etc.

Brighton should be looking for coaches with modern ideas and methods not just dishing jobs out WILLY NILLY>

Don't care if he is a nice bloke as that isn't the best thing in a coaching role maybe?

Dean Wilkins is an old player now managing and when he is doing well and we win most of NSC wets themselves over him.

Modern ideas like what?

Bit harsh... don't get me wrong, i wish Loft couldn't get near our team, however is really much worse that the likes of Fraser and Thompson?
Yes, he's infinitely worse than either of these two, personally I can't believe you're even comparing him with Thomson.

The Loftmeister has one good game and people think he's the second coming.

Get rid.

Give Loft another six months to prove his worth. It is hardly going to break the bank.

.

I thought he was given his last contract to prove himself, so why give him another contract ........ to prove himself.

So Doug Loft, goodbye, thanks for coming it's been great.

Loft no to a contract at BHA but probably one at Lewes if they go up.

Butters I would offer him the opportunity to be defensive coach/emergency player possibly Reserve team manager.

Butters would not let us down if an emergency arose and he had to play and as the future of Hinshlewood is in doubt we have very little cover for central defence other than El Abd if he signs a new contract.

Thomson in my opinion has been very poor for us, everytime i see him he offer absolutely nothing. What is he?? defensive midfielder? hardly protects the back four, cant pass forwards, poor distribution.

I think people expected him to be good and are still clinging on to that hope.

Like i said, i would hope Loft gets no where near the squad, but at the moment, im afraid he does.
