Okay, worst result in decades, but does it matter? Not to me, no - it would be far more worrying if it was a regular occurrence, but it simply isn't.
The knee-jerk/wetting posts on here have me laughing, and there's no doubt that I needed a bit of cheer, after that.
All said and done, we're still doing 'reasonably' well...in the Prem, of all places.
Knock Chelsea out next week and the mood will be entirely different - quelle surprise.

I hope it matters to the manager that he has given us our worst defeat in over 60 years, the most notable achievement of his short career with us.

Mitigation is the injury list but compounded by schoolmaster behaviour in dropping players (allegedly) for misdemeanours just before kick off two appalling games on the bounce.
“Allegedly” doing a LOT of work here

What email from PB is this? Has he written to us all? Or is this some reply to a supporter? Searching my junk mail now. Would love to read the corporate brand spin on this one.

In one of the threads yesterday a nsc’er had emailed him soon after the game, PB’s reply was something like just one result, 8 great years?

We were outstanding in the first half at Anfield, the second halves vs City and Spurs. Plenty of other decent performances - although as we know, keeping it up for 90 mins has been a challenge.
I suspect a retrospective re-analysis of many of the great RdZ games would also show we didn’t dominate for 90 minutes very often then either. Take the 4-1 Palace game, we were outstanding in the first half to lead 3-0, then let them back into it (including their goal) before we scored the 4th late on to put the gloss on it.

We were, however, much more clinical when our chances came.

Is there a trend? It was only a few weeks ago we were good and won three games back-2-back.
Of those three wins one was against a bang average Championship team, another against a team almost certain to get relegated, another against Man U who we always beat (!). Offset against the performances against Wolves, Ipswich, Palace, Everton, Southampton, West Ham, Fulham, Brentford - a bit of a trend?

Not a lot in common to those games except that they were disappointing results. No tonkings, not even 3-0s or 4-0s let alone 7-0s, and only one defeat in which we failed to score like yesterday. Besides, the go to complaint had until yesterday been that we couldn’t beat poor sides, so in fact it counts for something that Norwich and Ipswich were shite.

And we didn’t beat Utd in May, so it’s clearly not a given, is it?

Yeah, it's not black or white.

We had a couple of honkers under the last manager as well, 6 against Villa and 5 against Everton.

What disappointed me most was the total lack of application and concentration towards the end. This made the score line much worse than it possibly needed to be.
You forgot the total lack of application and concentration at the beginning as well.

Not seeing any trend I’m afraid
