"All you could see was a sea of Blue and white"
How many wore colours to a home match in 1980, never mind away to your rival?
Scarves. Everyone had scarves on their necks or wrists when I first started going in 79. IIRC they were trophies.

It's hilarious. Reads like a parody of one of those hooligan "books.
"There were thousands of Brighton comming down Cherry Orchard Road."

When we played Arsenal in the first match in 1st Division, the thing you noticed most, was how many fans DIDNT have scarves, or colours, which made you realise fairly quickly, that all was not well in the North Stand... then it erupted
It was hilarious.....if you was there.
Was this the first match of the season? I remember fans were refused entry wearing "bovver boots". It really went off in the North on that pissing hard night in the league cup a couple of months later.
it was not, i was only about 12, you couldn't have been much older, i was shittin meself
Why's it hilarious ? Where you there that day ? Have you ever been there ?
because it's such a stereotype and so hugely exaggerated, surely you can see that?
And yes, groan, i've been to selhurst park many times.
Don't ever remember Palace marching around Brighton those days, they got the train straight to Hove, If they did come into Brighton station there was probably a welcoming commitee ,now they sneak down west street and get wrapped up in an escort or drink miles away in other towns
