give capello a chance to manage the next 'generation'

people (marshy especially, who was trying to stick the knife in from day one) that he took over a team that didn't even QUALIFY for the last tournament

it'd be like taking over as manager of portsmouth and being expected to win the premier league in two years

And up until now i have been proved 100% correct, name me one thing he has done different to Sven ?

In fact he has been worse than Sven so far....

I hope Fabio stays, we're never going to get anywhere unless we keep the same manager/methods for 4 years or more. Stupid, short term thinking.

Also, I hope what this will do - especially if we do now blood some youngster - is MANAGE EXPECTATIONS.

Supercoppa Italiana (Milan) 92, 93, 94
Champions League (Milan) 94
European Supercup (MIlan) 94

Serie A Champions (Roma) 01
Supercoppa Italiana (Roma) 01

Serie A Champions (Juventus) 06
La Liga Champions (Real Madrid) 97, 07

Yep, clearly the guy is utterly clueless and tactically naive. Thats what done for us.
Get rid.

United States,Algeria,....crap England then a slender win against very ordinary opposition, culminating in a complete disaster against Germany!
£6mill.my arse!
Time for Fabio to go back to club management in Italy after he has counted his wedge.Whatever you say,he has had the squad for 2 or so years and plenty of opportunity to sort out the best players, the best formation and tactics......failed dismally!

Still the man for the job, people forget the way we cruised thru the qualifyiers (as we should).

I go along with te fact that the players are burnt out, it is always the same at every touramnent for most players.

If we want our national side to thrive, we need a shorter season, more English players playing in the Premiership.

And of course if these suggestions are implemented and don't work, it will confirm, that we are man for man crap.

2 years to take a team that had just failed to qualify and turn them into a team capable of winning a tournament? how very realistic

'Judge me on results'.......quote from the man himself.

'Reaching the semi-finals is a minimum'....quote from the man himself.

Can't agree with you Turi, but each to their own opinion!

Yep, its AAALLLL down to Capello isn't it.

Nothing whatsover to do with a bunch of overpaid, overhyped Premiership footballers who have their dicks sucked by the press all season long about how "incredible" they are, how "world class" they are, then run onto the pitch and completely stink the f***ing place out. Again.

Of COURSE the answer is to sack the manager. It always is, isn't it ? That'll sort everything, it always does. Because its all Capello's fault, OBVIOUSLY.

I think he painted himself into a corner with those remarks early on, without fully realising the fact that there isn't a pool of english talent to choose from in this country. Its more like a puddle.

I suppose not.

To be fair, up until his ankle ligament injury in March, Rooney was having the season of his life. Taggart rushed him back 10 days into what was initially diagnosed as (at least) a 6 week layoff, and we've all just seen the result both for United and England. He's been gash ever since.

To be fair Easy, and I say this as someone that wants Capello to stay, he was hardly blameless in the debacle, was he? He went back on promises to select players on form and not to entertain taking injured players, and then showed an unwillingness to change a tactic that clearly wasn't working, and made only minimal changes in personnel (Defoe for Heskey is the only one I can think of) when some players were abysmal. Somehow Joe Hart seemingly jumped from being number 1 to number 3 in a matter of days, while his persistance in picking a clearly completely unfit Gareth Barry in the team, when Michael Carrick was a perfect like-for-like replacement, looks laughable with hindsight.

He needs to be given more time, and as I've said elsewhere, he needs to rebuilt. I just hope that as part of this overhaul Capello himself also does some soul searching.

Im not saying its all his fault, the players did let him down also, but clearly the players dont want to play for him. You must admit we stunk the place out, he has to take the lions share of the blame.

No manager of a major footballing nation would survive after the Shite we have been served up, In the last 7 games.

We have a manager who still speaks pigeon english and who cant communicate with the players, is unwilling to change from a 4-4-2 and plays our best players out of position.

He actually came out and said we played well after the Germany game !

I fully expect to see Heskey trotting out for England in our Euro Qualifiers...

marshy, yesterday you said that you blame capello "entirely"

are you now accepting that the players deserve to take some of the blame?

Hes entirely to blame for our shape and the way we play yes, you cant account for some of the defending yesterday, but he put the players in those positions.

If we keep Capello we are screwed in my opinion. Its Sven all over again. Except Sven spoke better English and shagged his way around the office.
