I can't believe this game from 35 years ago is being talked about.
It was my first Brighton game and I was instantly hooked. I became a Brighton fan that night. I lived in nearby Crowthorne but my dad who's a Brighton fan took me.

I can't remember too much as I was very young at the time. Just got vague recollection of Peter Ward turning in the box. Also remember my dad cheering the goals and me thinking - shut up dad - as we were surrounded by Reading fans. I also remember some pissed up Brighton fans celebrating at the end. It did not make any sense before reading this thread - there was no segregation. Was that common back then?

Had no idea Robin Friday was playing as well. If there was one game I could go back and relive it would be this one.

I am taking my son on Boxing day hope it can come close to that game.

Lovely post hampshirebrightonboy - but don't know what happened that night, for segregation was normal, even back then! Even though 'we' (Reading) lost, I always felt that this was a special game. Your collective comments on this thread just seem to confirm that, and I'm just pleased to have touched upon a nice memory for all.

Will be in touch for our next meet, OK?! As always, we come on 'in peace' ...
Cheers,
