I miss the away game (almost home to some) at Crewe.

Remember the 7-1 win at Chester. You won't get those in the Championship.

League 2 was entirely miserable every season until we finally went up. God awful league.

How long were you down at the basement?
Could only have been a couple of seasons surely.
I personally thought it a really good division,but then I suppose we are more accustomed to playing such teams as Chelmsford,Dover and Welling.

I think that for those of us who have followed the Albion for a long time will remain for the most part as you hope. It may be a trifle more difficult for newer fans though if all they've known is relative success.

I was only thinking the other day that if Tony had not stepped in we would forever be a league 1 or2 club as the championship gets stronger and stronger.

For me there was an air of solidarity in league 3 / div4. You know when you had a bit of banter with Rochdale fans in the cricketers at Gillingham that you were speaking to "real" football fans. People to whom their club really really matterred. Likewise, when you managed to get to Spotland on a Tuesday night, you received the same "respect". Thats what I miss. It's not to say I don't like where we are now. I just have to keep pinching myself. Vicente BHA - just can't believe it sometimes.

We have our group, and the newbies join us, and within a few seasons - they too will be veterans. It's just that some will be more veteran than others - and that is the rise and fall of a football club. Ees complicated.

Drove back from Scotland the other day and stopped at The Sixfields leisure park in Northampton for a final comfort break. Took a look at that ground and remembered how depressing it was going there - not that I miss all those grounds, I pine for an away day to Brisbane Road, I really do.
But 16BHA let's also remember that not every Withdean game was like the ones you described - think how many times we got soaked?
On reflection I'm rather happy with what we've got.

On the basis of some comments made here I fear we will become short term memory, grandstanding twats if we make the Prem.

The reality of this club is that we will probably in the long term find our place as a mid table second tier club in terms of support and quality. History suggests nothing better.

Emeka Ifejiagwa I think we were in the covered bit for that one though? I remember it quite well, it was a bit of a number reshuffle, back in the good old days of the 1-11 every match and Gary Hart was shifted from his (at that point custom) number 8 to the number 9.

I miss Barnet away. I remember the Boxing Day (I think) when it was incredibly cold, truly horrible day it was. We won 1-0 (as we always did!) and the sight of everyone running back to the Costa Lovebus was gloriously comical.

I don't miss League Two in the slightest. I'm just excited that the football club I stayed loyal to through all those troubled years has become what it now is - a team playing great football in a wonderful stadium, with the very real prospect of mixing it with some of the world's best in the coming years. And it's still MY team, it's still Brighton & Hove Albion. I bloody love it.

I really miss it, used to love the away games at the small grounds and visiting the ale houses. Those days are now gone and it's a JCL club now. I hate
all these tossers who never had a good word to say about the Albion and now have become our greatest supporters.

We were stuck right at the bottom for two seasons, escaping relegation at Hereford on the last day of the season and then escaping again the following season only because Doncaster were even more shit than us. We spent most of the time when we were at our worst at Gillingham and it was dire. I think we got out after 4 seasons?? As a Crawley fan your only memory is going to be one of going straight though League 2 on the back of a previous promotion, of course you were going to love it!!

The year we got promoted was fantastic, back in Brighton and overhauling the cheats of Chesterfield was particularly sweet.

I actually really liked Withdean in late summer, the autumn and in spring. It was never a proper football stadium and it was grim in the wet but I liked it

I miss some of the away trips we had in Div Two. I have particularly fond memories of trips to Shrewsbury, York, Exeter, Bath (Bristol Rovers), Torquay, Rochdale, Lincoln, Cheltenham, Wrexham - all long trips, interesting towns (well, except Rochdale!), great pubs, great banter and usually got home late, tired, pissed and happy!

I loved Withdean and I had some amazing experiences (Man City, Mansfield, Notts Forest, Carlisle to name just 4). But is took special games to make it a proper "event". In the Championship, most games are an event because of the quality of the stadium and the opposition.

Also, we had some amazing success at League One/Two levels with some APPALLING players coming in (Danny Webb as an example).

I loved Withdean but now its serves of a welcome reminder of where we came from in recent years and makes me appreciate things much more.
