Cruz is clearly a very clever man but he believes in creationism. How does that work?

Well, basically, creationists believe that the creation days of Genesis 1 were six literal (24-hour) days, which occurred 6,000–12,000 years ago. They believe that about 2,300–3,300 years before Christ, the surface of the earth was radically rearranged by Noah’s Flood. All land animals and birds not in Noah’s Ark (along with many sea creatures) perished, many of which were subsequently buried in the Flood sediments. Therefore, creationists believe that the global, catastrophic Flood was responsible for most (but not all) of the rock layers and fossils (i.e. some rock layers and possibly some fossils were deposited before the Flood, while other layers and fossils were produced in postdiluvian localised catastrophic sedimentation events or processes)

There's a lot of what you need to know here:-

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news...ction-conservatives-public-schools-curriculum

Concerning this woman:-

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mary_Lou_Bruner

Who very nearly became one of the most important people in the Texan education system.

There's also 'critical thinking' https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Critical_thinking and the Texan Republican's wanting it banned.

I would link that too, but I've run out of free Washington Post links, and I'm not sure of the provenance of the other links that 'Republican GOP Critical Thinking' google brings up.

It's time for me to add some gravitas to the debate which is sadly going downhill and ask the question that is it one of the greatest coincidences that with a name like Trump he has a face that looks like he has just smelt one of my Sunday ones.

Hey it's Friday!

His failure to release his tax returns, the dodgy Trump Foundation, his insulting comments about Miss Universe and now the accusations about breaching the Cuba embargo – you’d swear this guy was handing the Presidency to Clinton

It's beyond farce. I'm convinced that HC has a serious medical condition and if you add the scandals surrounding the emails, her disgusting actions with Benghazi, the harrassing of her husband's rape victims, the rumours about the Clinton Foundation finances, all those mysterious deaths of people with dirt on her, her getting sacked as an intern should all be more than enough on their own to sink her campaign but she's up against a bloke aspiring to be President but who was up all night having a bitch fight on Twitter with a beauty queen.

It's hard to think of a worse pair of candidates for major political office than these two. At least, not since Chirac was up against Le Pen and voters had to choose between the crook or the fascist. Actually, that's not too far away from the choice facing the Americans

It's funny how in politics people never have a choice between two amazing candidates, it's always the lesser of two evils.

Certainly sums up the British two party Lab . vs. Con. system over the last 40 or so years.

.....and that is from somebody who is intrinsically pro-Labour!

Who can blame them, we their parents proclaim they don't speak for us....

Yet their duty is to rebel against us...

So they in turn will turn to the past ie socialism...

God forbid nationalism

History does repeat its self over and over and over again

If the Americans feel that things need changing and Clinton is the Establishment figure ,then they will vote for Trump.

I've run into so many Americans that feel this way. They just don't feel the establishment is getting anything done and at least Trump will be different then the usual.

Don't worry The Libertarian Party will save us:-

There are newspapers that have NEVER EVER endorsed a Democrat - San Diego and Arizona dailies - that have declared through gritted teeth for Clinton and I see Jeb Bush is close to endorsing the Libertarians. These are strange times that we live in.

2016 will go down in history as a bleak year and the American Presidential elections seem a quite fitting end to it.
