How's it going? I have largely cut out gluten owing to my guts. Don't know if it has affected my head, but the last couple of years have been too turbulent for weak signals to be detectable, I suspect.

Too early to say. I eat healthy anyway as I follow Jessie Inchauspe, The Glucose Goddess (savoury only breakfast, salad or veg starter before every meal including breakfast etc ). I was really interested in the gluten opinion though. I know you have dairy issues, I also found this quote interesting in Scott's book "..dairy doesn't directly contribute to mood problems, people with gluten issues often also have trouble with dairy because of damage to the digestive system (caused by gluten)". Anyway, as most things, other opinions say gluten is made too big an issue and over emphasised. But proof is in the individual, so I'm giving it a go. * I have also seen it repeated a lot that being on the autistic spectrum and digestive issues are often linked? Dunno, so much we don't know and so much is contradicted by someone else!

edit - also I think you have to cut out gluten completely, cutting it down may not make any difference. Like other sensitivities after time it may go away and you can eat small amounts again,

I will try to converse with strangers or loose acquaintances at receptions and the like, but after 5 minutes I am always the only person in the room not chatting with anyone. I gather this is due to my being on the aspergers/autism spectrum. I overcompensate for my total lack of small talk by being too intense/weird/intimidating. I find it slightly amusing, now, if I'm honest, watching people back away as if I'm about to perform a urethroscopy on them, or suddenly pretend to spot an old and dear friend on the other side of the room, and leg it :lolol:

I didn't find this the case at all when I met you, unless you sent a stooge in your place .....

That's absolutely it. In my case, several disciplinary hearings at work for causing offense. Broken relationships....still, I'm an optimist. I now park conflict for 24 hours (if I remember to do so - ahem). I consider that even though I know I'm right.....I may not be.....and so on.

All the best

PM me if you ever feel the need.

That is extremely kind of you , another friend on this thread (who i am also extremely grateful to ) but will not give his id away without his consent , has made the same offer , i hope you both know how much i appreciate that offer , and it is very much reciprocated . Thankyou

It's when there is a big crowd of people all talking to each other at once that flummoxes me. There again, I get along well very easily with some people

Life can be challenging, it’s tough, I’m a bit of a loner, failed marriage, failed relationships, fought drug addiction (cocaine)and am winning but still have the odd relapse, I have a loving family but i struggle with family life and prefer being on my own, I just can’t handle the pressure of keeping everyone happy- im doing ok financially and have a good job- I love escaping on holidays on my own, just me myself and I ! stay strong guys 💪 What will be will be 🤔

Have you looked into whether you are on the Aperges/autism spectrum? There are online tests. That's how I found out why I share all of your characteristics (plus others).

Never feel bad about putting yourself first mate. There's ok days and then there's really shit days - no in-between, especially at this time of year with the times we're living in.

I hope things get more stable for you. One day at a time and all that. Maybe let other family members know how you feel? Take care. (y)

Hi Harry,

Yes I have taken the online Autism test and yes it suggests I’m very autistic, but I dont want to focus on that, I’m me and that’s my behaviour, my personality, that’s why people have fell in love with me, people like me, I’m likeable. However there is often a dark cloud, a side of me that struggles, but I beat it by booking a holiday, giving myself something to look forward to !

Yep.

Since I found out about my situation it has been a struggle and I find it hard to not think about it (when I get into conflict at work - am I dealing with fuckwits or is it just me, etc?). My brother (who has worse traits than me) simply won't discuss the condition. Who isn't to say that his way is best?

I didn't seek any 'diagnosis' but was pushed into it by Mrs T. A mixed blessing, to be honest. One way or the other I suspect we will inevitably be going our separate ways at some point. I am better off on my own. Better for all concerned.

I took a holiday alone every year, for years. Covid stopped that. Last year the family holiday was good, but stressful. Mrs T is talking about a trip to California next year. I have been changing the subject. "Oh look, what's that over there?"

Happy to 'confer' by PM any time you feel the need. But I'm 98% certain you won't. :lolol:

LOL…perhaps it was good that you did ….i wasnt in a good mood after!
Another time for sure!
You got my mobile number? Match day gets a bit chaotic but me and my lovely companions have found a very nice alternative to The Swan (which is, itself, good if you get there early). I should warn you that two of us are very grumpy :lolol:

Anyway I will give you a shout in the new year. Bring Steve
