Dodgy Gatso Speed Camera

Last night on the way back from the game on the A283 near Pulbrough i got caught by a Gatso speed camera .

The dodgy thing about it was that it got me head on with the flash nearly blinding me where it was dark.

The white marking lines were on the other side of the road just in front of the camera.

Is this right has i thought that these cameras caught you from the rear as to not blind you with the flash from the front.

So will i get a ticket or if this is wrong who do i complain to ?.

Cheers Bob.

Gatsos only record from the rear, so if you were going towards it, you will not get a ticket, even if it flashed (AIUI they are only licensed to report speed in the direction they are facing).

It happened to me on several occasions. I never had a ticket when driving towards a speed camera, even when i have activated them. They are calibrated to measure traffic moving past them (I think)!.

I don't know why people moan when they are caught breaking the law or is this a public service message ?

Was it a Gatso or a Truvelo?

Truvelo:

edit: Truvelos don't flash apparently. If you were travelling towards it and it was a gatso it can't have caught you.

Wrong, gatso can record speed in both directions. And others have said if you don't to pay fines for speeding then don't speed. If you do speed then don't whine when you are caught doing so and fined.

Public service message!.

If this camera is faulty which it must be to flash head on at a driver in the dark then whose to say that it won`t flash even if you were doing the correct speed .With the result of the driver being blinded causing him to cross to the other side of the road and hit another car coming the other way.
Or doesn`t that matter.

But you weren't doing the correct speed. Perhaps you need to go back tonight and do say 29mph and see if it flashes, then you can say it's faulty.

They work on radar principles. The box sends a signal and then decodes the return to see if you are speeding. You were. It flashed.

The ONLY person who would have been at fault had you crossed the road and caused an accident whilst 'blinded' would have the selfish tit behind the wheel who thought he is allowed to break the speed limit.

So what happened in the Baker Bob? The reason I ask, is because the same thing happened to me at the same junction in Pulborough this morning whilst travelling to work in Reading.

Is it case of being the easiest 3 points that I have won in Pulborough?

Speed cameras are the devils spawn, they should all be destroyed! It's not even about law and order, its just a cash machine for the government as if they didnt screw us enough already!!
