I'm pretty sure wedding rings for men have been popular for about 150 years. Anyway, men should only ever wear two items of jewellery, a decent, grown up watch and a wedding ring. Anything else is bit dodgy and no-one should ever, ever wear a pinky ring. It's very Arthur Daly.

Virtually no men seemed to wear them in the late 60's early 70's from my memory, rings yes, loads of them but not wedding rings generally from my memory.
Could be that most of the people I knew avoided getting married back in those days I guess, free love and all that
No rings or jewellery at all, I DO LIKE PUTTING RUBBER BANDS AROUND WRIST AND ANKLES AND BACK IN THE EARLY EIGHTIES WORE A NICE CHERRY EAR RING DOWN TO SHERRYS FOR THE ELECTRIC NIGHT ON A THURSDAY
